Help please.

X250/2.3 - removing the ECU in the engine compartment.

Does anybody know how to disconnect the ECU? Is there a special tool needed? I can see 2 yellow sliders but they don't appear to release anything.

Many thanks.

First of all you should not be touching the ecu unless you are a qualified auto electrician and then why do you need to disconnect it

Well I've been having issues with intermittent fault codes and the insulation of the loom leading to the ECU was in a bad state. Just wanted to clean the contacts and tidy up the loom. Once I discovered the levers holding the connectors in place it was straight forward to remove the ECU.

Everything is working fine now! What are your concerns about removing the ECU by somebody else other than a qualified auto electrician.

Being a level 10 Scania tech with over 30 years experience on HGV's, means even I cant take it out then...
With due respect sir your talking s**t, rather than coming out with "unless your a qualified auto elec." ....don't treat the man like an idiot tell him why certain precautions need to be taken??

how many times have you been called out to dirty connectors and bad earths over the years olympus i agree with you disconnect the battery earth and clean as long as the smoke stays in the wires alls well cheers Adam

Woo a grade ten did u get a tube o smarties with ur certificate and I'm not sir no queens comment yet I'm only a sgt in the R.E.M.E and I only warned the gent he could damage the settings on his vehicle ie the imob alarm etc so calm down and I do not talk s---t and I have 30 years service as well

I only tried to help because you can damage setting on your vehicle ie the alarm immob etc no harm meant to you hope all went well

As your in the trade you obviously appreciate and understand the implications of what can happen when ECU/ECM are unplugged & removed without precautions being taken
It would have been nice to explain to the gent why the precautions need to be put in place & why ...that's all rather than the way you put it
And if he continues without doing so, then that down to him
BTW I prefer skittles myself
