A general question please
I'm looking at all the chips available for the engine 2.8 JTD, any views on good or bad.

I'm well aware & respect the views from either side as to why you should & shouldn't fit them.

I looked into chipping my 2.0 jtd, the results look good on paper but I was worried about it being pushed too far.
I instead had a man come and remap the ecu changing the coding manually rather than using a pre made map, I told him what I wanted from the map which for me was to try to eradicate the turbo lag in 2nd gear and just to have more poke, I'm really impressed with it done 10k since and it doesn't seem any worse on fuel. We took the van out checking for smoke etc at a variety of speeds and roads. Think the smile on my face said it all.beware of people offering false promises and make sure they have experience of your engine.

Don't bother buying one that connects to the rail pressure sensor all that does is fool the ecu into increasing the rail pressure, you can accomplish that yourself by fitting the 2.3jtd sensor instead. A proper remap is the way forward, I wouldn't want a remap from some guy wtha laptop though, without a proper dyno, emissions setup you have no idea what they're doing, play with the torque limiters and you can end up with blow clutch gearbox , driveshafts there are a ton on chancers out there.

I have a Tunit Box fitted to my 2.8 JTD and I am happy with it. My motorhome has a 5 tonne MAM and I can feel the difference even though I have only set the jumper half way between min and max. Whichever route you choose, remember the clutch and Turbo may feel the strain if you have a heavy foot.
