Technical Speedometer stopped?

I have just had a new clutch put in by a Johnny useless geezer!! He eventually got the clutch in and took 7 days doing it. Now for doe reason my speedometer has stopped moving, are the two possibly related, and how can I check the speedo?
 
I'm afraid it will be difficult to attempt an answer to your question until you provide details of the model, engine etc.

Of course they could be related, sender is on the gearbox could have been damaged in the process of changing the clutch, might just be disconnected, if its the old mechanical speedo they wear out too.
 
Moodrater, Cheers, I’ll try and find a diagram of the cable in situ and have a go myself.
