Oh dear, this is sounding expensive. The van has sat for 3 weeks since last use and this morning wouldn't start and run.

Firstly it fired up as normal then cut out after 3 or 4 seconds.
Tried again and the same thing happened.
Then next time the immobiliser light came on.
After a short break the light was out and it fired and ran again but again stopped after a few seconds.
I have a basic code reader but it found no error codes.

Now the immobiliser light is resolutely on and the fuel pump doesn't run.
I've tried with both keys.
Have tried resetting the inertia switch.
Have disconnected and fully charged battery.
Have removed, cleaned and replaced the gearbox to chassis earth strap.
I've tried the emergency start procedure but holding the aceelerator pedal down for 30secs+ does nothing.
The radio displays CANCHECK.
My code reader now won't connect and read anything..

This sounds bad but if anyone has any suggestions please?

Hi,
started sounding just like a poor battery..,
maybe not..,
have you locked + unlocked vehicle since recharging?,
maybe try this / and / or removing battery power overnight,

otherwise I would call out the breakdown, and see what they find,
good luck + let us know,
Charlie

Yes locked and unlocked several times. I'm leaving the battery disconnected overnight but am not hopeful.

If I plug my code reader into the diagnostic socket and turn on the ignition then every 5 seconds or so the fuel gauge drops to zero and the low fuel light flashes 3 times, then the needle returns to half full!

If we have dry weather tomorrow I'll break and remake every electricl plug I can find and perhaps try a new earth strap but I think it'll be leaving on a recovery truck somehow..

Update. AA man been and couldn't connect to the diagnostics. Diagnosed ECU not powering up - no power at fuse #17 in the under-bonnet fusebox. Putting a live feed into fuse #17 lets the engine start and run and diagnostics work. Ongoing..
