Hi there

I have a 1998 Fiat Ducato Euramobil Sport 2.8TID Motorhome, and I have a few problems with the electrics, mainly the fridge doesn't work on 12v, neither is the leisure battery charging from the Alternator. I have been on various motorhome forums and somebody mentioned it could just be a fuse or a relay. I have the starter battery out for better inspection, and found a black box under the window cowl - (see photo's 1 & 2) which when I removed it and opened it, looked like this inside (see photo's 3 & 4) I have no idea what it is or what it does, think it might be the ECU. And fitted just behind where my battery sits are some other fuses (see photo's 5,6,7 & 8) and also connected to the 12v live on my starter batter was this big boy fuse (see photo 9)

If there is anyone out there who can tell me what these fuses etc are for and do, and help identify them. I would be really grateful.

Also have pictures of the wiring inside the cab to the Elektroblock EBL 200-6 12v distribution unit and charger. As well as inside the unit itself if this will help.

Thanks a lot
Paul

My first suggestion would be to check all the fuses, both the fridge and leisure battery charging should be fuse protected, but where they will be is any ones guess.

Also in many vehicles the fridge will only run on 12 volts when the leisure battery is being charged by the alternator, EHU on it's own is not enough.

photo 1 and 2 shows how I remember mogesie confused but I did not have long ducato in the old caste, but it is a car mat glow plugs, moreover, very spotty, fuses with the pictures 5,6,7,8 are the fans, the picture 4 for fuses have a distributor plus a battery pack, and the picture can have one for the fuse that you have the picture No. 9

Re: I know a man that will!

If it's anything like my motorhome on a Ducato chassis and with an Electrobloc charger control then the split charge from the alternator (for charging the leisure battery) and the supply for the fridge are both controlled by your EBL200-6 (have a look at the pdf which you can download).
In fact almost all of the habitation electrics are controlled and fused by the EBL unit and mine went bonkers recently and had to get a part ex one from Allan Evans at www.aandncaravan services.co.uk. He knows everything you need to know about these and is very helpful.
Have you tried contacting the converters of the motorhome they should have a wiring diagram which will help greatly with your fault finding. Adria emailed me a pdf of my internal wiring which pointed me in the right direction straight away.
I don't know where you are based but I am sure Allan (based in North Wales) would get it sorted for you pretty quickly.
Good luck!

Hi thank you for your replies, I'll take your advice on board. Thanks Toyogran I'm based in the Southeast - Dover. I've contacted Schaudt the makers of the elektroblock and they have sent me instructions for the EBL 200-6 in German which I managed to translate. But I think I will contact Euramobil to see if they can send me the wiring schematics.

Thanks once again
Regards
Paul

If you take a look at the schematic wiring diagram for your EBL200 it should show the fuse locations for the fridge etc. Presume your fridge is 3 way (AES) this normally has a dedicated fuse of its own within the EBL.
If the EBL has an input from the alternator signal wire (not the output from the alternator) then the split charge relay lies within the EBL. Check that the EBL is receiving a voltage signal on the D+ terminal. This signal is needed to trigger the relay for charging the leisure battery when the alternator is generating (also retract the side step if an electric one is fitted and switch the fridge supply).
Hopefully if you get the converters wiring diagram it should show the other fuses that interface into the EBL and will help you check that all the connections between the starter battery, leisure battery and EBL200 are functioning and getting the necessary voltage.
Good luck - I found Allan Evans invaluable in sorting my EBL problems - he even gave me advice over a Bank Holiday weekend!
