I have a 2001 LHD Rapido, the passenger mirror is impossible to adjust to suit me, are there different angled "legs" on the mirrors? as I am wondering if my mirror was broken and replaced with a RHD one. The drivers side one has the mirror angled totally differently but is perfect. They are electric BTW. Thanks for any help.

No good! I need to have the whole mirror set at a different angle. I know there are long and short brackets, mine are the long ones but are straight where the drivers side are angled. (LHD)

You probably have the wrong arm fitted and that is why you cannot use it properly. I bought a new motorhome based on a Boxer and had the problem. My UK nearside arm was actually a LHD Drivers arm, that is why it was hopeless. I now have a Burstner on a Ducato and the nearside mirror is not perfect but is usable. You would be surprised at 2 things. How common this was at the time and how many wing mirror variations there are.

Get down the scrapyard for a replacement.

personally if it was me I'd get someone to move it until it was right and put a screw in it to keep it in place,

Not possible, the mirror adjusters have notches and are spring loaded, hence they only sit in allotted positions, anyway if I wanted to butcher the mirrors I wouldn't have posted the question, doing what you suggest would just make them unusable for another driver, that's the purpose of having adjustment in them.

Butcher haha you're a bit emotionally attached to your mirrors.
I know how they work, the screw would be hidden under the rubber bellows. the mirror glass would still be adjustable the only disadvantage would be that you wouldn't be able to fold in the mirror which isn't a big deal if it currently doesn't work and you're going to replace them anyway.

To do what you suggested is not possible, hardly emotionally attached but I do not do "botch jobs"!!! If you know how they work :eek:you will know that the pre determined positions are NON ADJUSTABLE, because of being spring loaded , the "screw" under the bellows is in fact a bolt and is tightened to allow only the pre determined positions. There are four bolts, two at each end of the brackets. The whole thing works as it is but it is just for my driving position that I can't get the mirror to suit, so your suggestion is a no go on all fronts.

:Head explodes:

I didn't say there was a screw I said you could put a screw in it but you're obviously more interested in spending money so I won't bother explaining.

If I did what you are suggesting I would be trying to get the mirror to sit on top of the spigot, IT IS SPRING LOADED TO SIT IN THE GROOVES, that is the problem, I presume that there are other mirror brackets with different angles for LHD/RHD. Can anybody throw any light on this? are there different brackets ? I have no intention of drilling a hole and putting a self tapper in (as I presume moodrater is on about, if that's not your fix please elaborate). I want to be able to adjust the mirrors if needs be.

Hi, to help both of you out of a (screw)hole:D, I am certain that back in 2001 Ducato mirrors were non-electric.

Is your Rapido an A-class? If so the mirrors will have been sourced by Rapido from some manufacturer's bits-box just for that model rather than using the standard Ductato's.

Good luck with getting any spares or info out of Rapido:rolleyes:

They are definitely electric from new, It's not a A class. I was trying to get a new pollen filter the other day (factors didn't have one) and having given my local Fiat dealers the chassis number they told me that the vehicle did not have one! I explained that I had the old one in my hand but they were adamant. No use trying them anyway! I eventually got one from the factors for €14. I am leaning towards a replacement having being done for a broken mirror and arms. I want to compare to another LHD to be sure. The drivers side mirror arms are a totally different shape to the passenger ones on my van.

Sorry to go off track; just I had a 1998 Ducato which had non-electric mirrors and I thought this was standard (but then it didn't have anything electric so perhaps I was fobbed off with the base version:))

OK I finally sorted this issue, not with any extra screws either ! Having looked at short and long arms I compared them with what I had, the part numbers on mine were 61242 and 61244, I moved the mirror manually into a position that enabled me to see, I then marked both the lower and upper arm to coincide with the ridges. I removed the mirror and stripped it. While at this (I had intended to file new grooves in the arms) I suspected that the arms may well be reversible, i.e. that the lower outer would become the upper inner connection if you follow me. I did this and hey presto it works, I now have a perfect view. It alters the angle of the mirror completely. I don't know if these arms are LHD or RHD, maybe they are the same and just arranged differently, Hope this helps somebody.
