Hi I have a 2003 ducato 2.0jtd. Don't know if its linked but we had heavy rain the other day and now having difficulty engaging gears sometimes. Only done 20k, clutch feels ok, my query is linkages but it seems intermittent and it has been in all gears at separate times.

Hi,

Don't know if your van has the same gearbox arrangement as mine (2006 2.8JTD) but I followed Bencey's advice in this thread, which transformed my gearchange:

https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/296026-ducato-2006-clutch-gearbox-issues.html

I also changed the gearbox oil (but do a forum search in case quantities & spec is different for your box) and also extended the drain tube from the heater air intake (on my van it discharged the collected rainwater onto the above-mentioned pivot:eek:)

Crikey how did you get to it? I've removed the airbox and squirted it best I can until I can get to do a proper job and it has made a difference. Also where did you reroute the drain to and what did you use? Cheers

The easiest route is to take the nearside wheel off; the pivot nut is then easily accessible. I found I could push it far enough along the shaft to be able to grease it without disconnecting the cables.

I extended the rubber drain hose with a suitable sized length of plastic pipe (sink waste pipe is the right diameter (though I can't remember whether this was 1.25" or 1.5" :))

Did you just extend it a bit further to clear the rear of the gearbox? Thanks for your help

Yes, by about a foot & secured it with a cable tie to stop it swaying about.

No idea if it's done the job as I can't motivate myself to crawl underneath when it's pouring down:D
