Hello I am new to this Forum and straight away would like your help. I have a Hymer motorhome on a Fiat Ducato 2.8jtd and I want to fit DRLs which means I have to fined an ignition on positive power connection, ideally in engine compartment.
I can pick one up from cigar lighter and dashboard but wonder if there is a simpler connection in engine bay. The elearn is fine but I find difficult to use and trace a connection.

Please help.:)

There aren't too many Ignition On feeds in the engine bay. I gave up in the end and took the covers off the ignition switch, found the obvious Ignition On wire with a test meter and spliced into it. All those cables going to and from the ignition switch will go through the bulkhead very close to the steering column. I took out a little storage cubby hole from the dash for access and could feed my new cable though the grommet along with the existing loom. Unless your DRLs are very low current, fit a relay in the engine bay straight to Battery +ve via an inline fuse and use the Ignition On to energise the relay.

left had drive or right please?

Just a suggestion - not saying this is the best way because I am not familiar with the Hymer motorhome on a Fiat Ducato 2.8jtd, only the basic X2/50 & X2/90 vans.
If its like them it might be easier to take the ignition positive connection from the cigarette lighter socket, straight down through the battery box and out into the engine bay?

I can confirm that ignition +ve in the x244 engine bay is confined to the engine bay fuse box.
When installing DRLs on my x244 I decided to use the redundant to me, foglight locations and wiring.

This operation requires some skill in wiring modifications, and is not for the faint hearted.

The foglight relay coil is already supplied with ignition +ve, but the negative end of the coil is routed to the blank foglight switch position.
I will not clutter this post with detailed instructions for the modification, but it involves replacing the wire in one of the harness connectors, and connecting to the sidelight circuit. The insertion of a encapsulated 12V to 5V converter into the foglight feed is also necessary.

For any who may be interested I will attach my modified copy of the original eLearn Foglight diagram E2030.
