My Winnebago motor home has a Fiat 2.8jtd 2004 and has a faulty alternator regulator. I have been quoted $526 for a new alternator. The faulty unit is Valeo 500371244 14 volt, 120amp. Can anyone suggest a cheaper solution. Regards chris

Hi
As moodrater has said a good auto electrician should be able to do a reco on it or there must be a Bosch 120 amp one available as a replacement. I did find a place in Vic I think that sold these Valeo alternators new but at the moment I can't find who it was as I normally save these places for future reference, will post if I find it again.
Cheers

Thanks you blokes for the advice. The autoelec says he can't get a regulator and the genuine fiat people quote $940 for the alternator. A mate has loaned me the alternator from his fiat tractor and in the meantime I have ordered a !@# brand from <Wangs> emplorium for $265. Would appreciate some advice on how to graft a foreign regulator onto this generic alternator.
...... if it was easy.... I wouldn,t ask... regards chris

Regulators are on ebay.de for 45 euro can't imagine the postage being more than 25
