Hi all, I have a broken speedo cable on a 2001 2.8 JTD Ducato. The end of the old cable is stuck in the gearbox and I was after suggestions about how to get it out as you cannot get a grip on it. There is a black housing the cable fits into and I wondered about removing this but not sure how. Any thoughts and assistance appreciated. Thanks Steve

The sending unit is held in by a small bolt m8 maybe

Thanks but its not the electric sender which has the M8 bolt. Mine is the mechanical version

I'm talking about lifting out the whole sender, the mechanical one, combined mechanical and electrical and electrical one are all held in by a bolt. You might be able to knock it out on the bench.
Yours as a jtd is both mechanic and electric, mechanical for the speedo and electrical for the ecu.

OK, thanks I will have another look when the weather improves and I can get back underneath. Cheers Steve

perfect thanks, it was very hard to see and get at with the gearbox in situ but all sorted now even if the speedo is now a bit jumpy :)
