Hi, Im new to this so please bear with me,

I have a 96 Hymer Camper based on a Ducato chassis thats just failed the MOT because the off side front brake is not working, absolutely nothing happens when you apply the brakes on that side. Ive checked the caliper and is all free, I then checks for leaks or a crushed pipe but have concluded that the proble seems to lie in the ABS unit, has anyone heard of this before? could it be a simple sticky valve? any advice would be welcome.

Chris

First thing is do you get a squirt of fluid from the bleed nipple when you press the pedal.

Ive actually done that...
With someone putting there foot on the brake pedal I undid the bleed nipple on the caliper and no fluid, I then loosened the next connection and did the same, still no fluid. However if I pust the pistons back fluid easily comes out of the nipple when opened so I believe the calipers are not seized and the problem is further back. I checked the master cylinder too by loosening a conection with someone applying pressure on the pedal and I get fluid. Therefore the only thing in the middle is the ABS unit.
Does anyone have any ideas?

The shuttle valves can seize is usually the unused ones like hill descent that seize as the others get a regular work out but I suppose if its been idle you could have a seized valve, loads of info over on the landrover/freelander forums on repairing them.
