Hey all,

New member here and I start with a problem! Doh!

I have a Ducato, it's a French vehicle so LHD, I am moving to France shortly but bring it over to sell stuff at furniture fairs etc. Problem is, about a month ago, after having only driven it a couple of times, I smashed the wing mirror when i misjudged just how small the road was that i was driving on with a bus coming the other way! Anyway, the right side mirror housing was smashed, it's the one with an indicator built in and is heated. I got a quote from a garage that wanted almost £500 to order one from Fiat and fit it which absolutely knocked me sideways!! Anyway I thought that desn't sound right so searched myself and found a place in the south west called 'All parts' I think it was and I bought a right hand mirror from them for £102 and got a local garage to fit it for £35. I was over the moon having saved a fortune. BUT........on driving back to France a couple of days later it became apparent that the mirror doesn't quite turn in far enough to see the side/rear of the van. All the electrics work on it, it just seems that the mirror needs to turn another half inch in but won't go further, I tried to move it by hand but the mirror comes off of the motor and seems to have gone as far as it can? I'm wondering if it's because it's a 'british' supplied part and it doesn't normally need to turn in so far on a RHD model, but does for me on a LHD? In which case i'm shafted and I need to order one from Fiat in France or even from Italy??
Has anyone ever had any issues with the glass not turning in far enough? Or any ideas as to whether there's anything I can try? I've never come across this issue on any vehicle i've had before.

Thanks in advance

TC

There is a different mirror for lhd rhd as far as I know but can you not just pull the whole mirror in a little, if its a flat replacement glass then a convex glass will help. If you're not in a hurry you could get a used on on ebay.de well under 100 quid - one just sold for €15.50 or you can get a manual unheated one new for about €70.
