Hi, seeking some advice on a 2011 X250 ducato 2.3 motorhome.

What is the easiest way for me to get at the back end of the power socket next to the cigar lighter on the dashboard. I want to connect a live feed directly from the cab battery so it does not require the ignition to be turned on before it becomes live.

Thanks in advance.
Philip

Remove the rubber on the bottom of the ashtray/cup holder and remove the screw you see.It then clips off.

Hi,
It is possible to achieve the same result with a small modification in the fuse box that protects this socket.
I did it on my X240 but I think I read somewhere it may upset the can-bus on the later models, not sure how.

It would be better to run a permanent live from the leisure battery, rather than the engine battery. There will be a constant small drain caused by the radio. A van is not much use with a discharged engine battery. The X2/50 motorhomes have a reputation for quickly running the engine battery down quickly due to radio, alarm, Tracker etc., so use the Leisure battery when possible, this has the benefit of the radio not switching itself off after 20 minutes as well.

Running a new supply from the leisure battery is 100% the best way to go.
