Last week i spent a couple of days in my 2004 2.0 jtd getting in the way of faster trucks on the autobahn.I've been trying to decide if it has always been this gutless or if the performance has deteriorated over the last eight years. Then today i see a spec sheet that says my engine gives maximum power at 5700 rpm! I don't think I've ever revved it that high.
Am i just driving it the wrong way?Should i be aiming for 5000 rpm before changing up?

The link below shows the BHP for a 2003-2006 2.0JTD as 84 PS (62 kW; 83 hp).

The HP per tonne will not be up to much and on the face of it is under powered. What is your MGW?

i don't know where you got the information regarding maximum torque but the revs are very high for a diesel. The link says "Maximum torque 192 N·m (142 lb·ft) @ 1,900 rpm"

BHP/Tonne may though not be the whole answer as my more modern 3L 160BHP can move my 4250kg motorhome very well and has power to spare.

It looks like a Fiat documentation misprint as the "84 PS (62 kW; 83 hp) @ 4,000 rpm" quoted on Wikipedia looks more reasonable.

Fitted a new MAF sensor and it's like I have a new engine!I can even accelerate up hills in fourth.
