My neighbour is in need of a little wheel advise.
The front wheels are bigger than the back.
front 215/75R 16C back 195/70R 15C

He would like to know:
Is this normal ?
What is the reason for this ?

Also there is only 1 spare for the back wheel.
Should there be a spare for the front ?

He has asked local dealers and they have not been very helpful so hopefully there is somebody here who can help.

Thanks
Darren

Hi,

I've never come across any commercial van not having the same size wheels all round; apart from anything else, as you mentioned, there is the issue of spares.

The 2.8 maxi chassis (Ducato 18) should have 16" wheels; not sure about the 14 standard chassis, possibly this has 15" wheels. It may be that a previous owner changed the fronts to try to improve fuel consumption.

Thanks for your reply thats a big help. The guy he bought it off didnt have clue and this is my neighbours first camper so its a big learning curve.

I've seen plenty of motorhomes with smaller wheels at the back than the front. I cannot recollect whether any of them were Ducato bases but I am sure that none of them were straight van conversions.

If you go on motorhomefacts .com you might get a lot more answers to your query, as there are over 60,000 members ,I personally don't think the tyres should be different, I have a 98 2.8 and there all the same size, Hope this helps Bryan
