I have a Ducato 120 multi jet, and I've had the same problem! Stripped the assembly completely and re tried. Problem stopped (for now) I couldn't see where the half tank of diesel had leaked from.

Hi All

Does anyone know if Fiat have now sorted the Fuel Filter leak problem, possibly caused by the O Ring.

Today i purchased a fuel filter element from Fiat Parts for my Ducato 2.8jtd 2005, I was informed that a different part is now being specified.

Four years ago i fitted fuel filter part number F0000077362340, Fiat are now supplying F0000077365902.

Unfortunately the parts guy was unable to confirm why the part has changed.

Many Thanks

I had this problem when i changed my fuel filter, I had to tighten it with a strap wrench to stop it leaking, a better solution might be to replace the filter housing with an inline filter or aftermarket fuel filter housing.

The genuine filter comes with a new o-ring, you absolutely need a strap wrench as the torque is on it is huge something like 70 -80Nm from memory but you'd want to check that. Probably not done up anywhere near that by the mechanic.

Not so easy simply chuck in an inline one because it has the fuel temp sensor built into the top and and water in fuel sensor in the bottom and those hard plastic nylon fuel lines are a nightmare to fit a barb to.

You could probably chuck in the filter head/housing from another jtd though.

VOSA are compiling reports of these filter failures with a view to getting Fiat to issue a recall notice contact them at this address stating fault

the plastic fiat filter is crap I have had the same leak
I was try to fit a metal filter as fitted to the later ducatos

I have the newer fiat ducato 180 (2014 reg) This has the newer metal fuel filter with a nice price tag of £96.00 invl VAT !!!!!!!! Complete Rip off.

I've never paid that for my 180 fuel filter in 7 services, they are avail from the factors, these are euro car parts over the counter prices, without haggling or trade discount

Hi - there are other threads on the site re this problem - you will need to do a bit of a trawl to find them. Also if you go onto the Caravan Club website and look in the motorhomes discussion section you will find 2 threads. I would urge anyone who has experienced a leak from their fuel filter (I have had 2) to complete the recall form on the DVSA website and contact Andrew Tudor at DVSA. The more complaints that DVSA the greater the chances are that Fiat will be forced to undertake a recall and fit a more robust filter housing.

Hi Rolopolo, my garage tried both the MANN & Crossland metal filters but they would not fit. I have a feeling that FIAT changed the filter again in 2013. Also my van is still unde warranty so had to have the Fiat Filter. I would be interested to know what filter is in the newer 2014 model.

Hi If your all on about the plastic UFI filter housings I think you should get the proper tool off ebay only £18 to £20. Makes it easy just stick it in a vice drop filter housing in and undo with 1/2 drive ratchet. When I do mine I always put a little oil on the thread and the face of the ring where it contacts the to bit then use a 1/2 torque wrench to correct torque which i stamped on the housing. Done 3 now and never had a problem (fingers crossed)

I used the tool on my filter and it leaked after 3 or 4oo mile
the plastic filter is a crap idear I have been in the motor trade for 35 years
and had my own garage for 25 so I know what the crack is
this is what the later ducatos fit and I was going to see if I could fit it on my motorhome
