Just got our fantastic new mobilehome/campervan (Winnebago Australia - Escape) Multijet 160 (2011 chassis?).

One thing I can't work out is the Desk/Bookrest. Manual says:
"There is a desk A-fig. 99 in the middle of the dashboard above the sound system compartment; on some versions this desk can be used as a bookrest by the back section and resting it on the dashboard as illustrated in the figure. On versions with passenger side air bags, the desk is fixed."

We don't have side airbags, but I can't tell if the bookrest can be opened or not. It doesn't seem to want to move, but I'm afraid of breaking it.

There's a round button like object just between it and the windscreen, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

How do I find out if it's supposed to be a bookrest or not? It doesn't seem particularly useful having that clipboard lying down flat.

Mines an '08 I don't know what the knob is for(screw cover?) I just place my hand on the catch just above that knob and pull the catch towards me. The shelf pops up.

"On versions with passenger side air bags, the desk is fixed." We don't have side airbags,
Although "dfk" may be correct, I don't think so. You DO have an airbag on the passenger side: a requirement in Australia. This is NOT the same as side air bags. So the shelf should be fixed flat, a safety requirement in case the airbag deploys.

AH, I was making a distinction between "Side air bags" and "Passenger-side airbags". If the manual isn't being particularly precise with it's terminology, that would explain it.

The manual is full of "for versions/markets where provided" without saying what IS provided, so it's been a lot of experimentation.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

Danny
