The transponder isn't on that board thats just the central locking the transpondee is an approx. 10x2mm glass cylinder stuck into the casing.

If you tape the transponder to the antenna anyone with a screwdriver will be able to steal your van.

Well, it actually is the immobilizer. If not positioned right you will not be able to start the engine. If somebody wants to steal the car they will do that anyway. Just a little bit harder to do.
Locks are to keep honest people out, wasn't it?

If I'd loose the key or it gets wet, here in Australia for an older car it would most likely take six month and a couple of grand to get the car started again.
I am not willing to take that risk.
Further, thieves would need to know that I have the immobilizer unlocked as soon as you have the ignition on.
Going traveling I just fit my own little switch for security.
I promise you, you'll need hours to find out.

Cheers,

Atmo

If yours is a factory original 244 then this is the transponder chip which you've left in the key, all the circuit board is doing is changing the antenna pattern so that you can pick it up further away. The normal field pattern of a the coil antenna is toroidal and very short range by sticking a pcb in it you've made it directional. Its very simple to find out, take the glass chip out of the key and see how you get on or if its glued in there just use the keyblade on its own.

And you needn't worry about it getting wet its hermetically sealed.

I suppose if they're bringing a trailer/loader to nick it then it doesn't make much difference but otherwise the immobiliser makes it a lot more difficult to nick its not like the old mechanical diesels where all you needed was a hammer and chisel and positive on the solenoid, the only way to start a common rail diesel is to either bring you're own matching ecu with immobilser off and swap it or reprogram the ecu by physically removing it and reprogramming the eeprom inside.

If I'd loose the key or it gets wet, here in Australia for an older car it would most likely take six month and a couple of grand to get the car started again.

Worst case scenario you but a complete ecu / immobiliser / key set off ebay for a couple of hundred pounds and swap them, there are also several services where you can post your immobiliser unit and they will send you it back with keys ready to start the vehicle.

Hi,

thanks a lot for your help. I did install a windows 7 now. Absolute nightmare to work with. Everything is so much more complex and complicated then my MAc. I managed to download the files. I managed to download 7 Zip but it can*t read the zip files. So I uninstalled it and downloaded another unarchiver. That one started to unarchivate and then stated the files dowloaded are password protected. So how do I get a password? Next would be, since I didnt study IT, How do I create a Directory and how do I burn with winzip?
What a Horrortrip. It's been four month now since I started working on getting a workshop manual.
Looks like you need a full IT University to get it done...

Any clues somebody?

Would be much appreciated.
I know every single windows installation works different though...

Hi Atmo
I didn't put a password on the zip file so I don't know why it's asking for a password ? It should just extract out into whatever directory you made or will make. Will do a write-up in the morning of how to make a "directory/folder" or whatever bloody Microsoft decide to call them in every different version of Windows.
Cheers

Hello guys, just bought a nice Ducato 2.8 1999 and I am looking for the User Manual. I came across this amazing forum.
However, I cannot download the manual from the link. Is it still active?

From the link at the second post of this topic.

That link was for the workshop manual, not the user manual (handbook).
.

Yes this is exactly what I am looking for, the workshop manual

When I posted the link in post 2 of this thread, I thought it was for the early X230 model Ducato workshop manual. However another forum member, (FreeSpirit, who knows more about the Ducato range than I do) told me it was not for the X230 so I deleted it.

I don't think anyone has found a downloadable manual for the X230.

#FreeSpirit may reply to this if he knows where you can get a X230 workshop manual.

Hi valentino86
I like others have spent many an hour looking on the net for the eLearn or the DTE version of the Ducato X230 model WSM to no avail. The DTE 94-02 version that you attempted to download was basically the 02-06 Ducato with the JTD common rail engines but in the older DTE format as can be seen from the pictures in post #8 in this thread by Davern. It covered the same X244 version as the 02-06 eLearn that is up on the site so Davern took it down to stop confusion.
I am sure there was a "eLearn" version of the 230 model as I had seen it listed on Fiats Technical Website but as of a few years ago the eLearn Workshop & ePer Parts manuals are now supplied to Fiat dealers on a keyLearn "USB" stick (with no doubt copy protection installed unlike the CD & DVDs used earlier)
If you can read German then you may be lucky as during my searches I found two scanned PDF manuals of the X230 model but both are not in English, one I was told was written in German & as for the other I don't know what language it is written in? The first is 220MB in size & covers Ducato 2.5/TD,2.8/TD?TDi & Citroen Jumper 2.0,2,8 & Peugeot 2.0,2.8 TDi,HDi.
So I will upload it to Filefactory & put the link up -
https://www.filefactory.com/file/52...umper Renault Boxer Repair Manual 1994-02.pdf
Have checked the link & it works OK, let me know if it is what you needed.
With no English X230 manual the info for the 2.8/TD/TDi engine may be got from the Iveco daily models of the same vintage. I might put that up as well later with a link also.
Cheers
