Technical workshop manual fiat ducato 2.8 idTD 1999

Hello all,

Can someone please re-upload the 2.8 idTD manual ?

Regards
Daniel

Did you get that fiat ducato 2.8 di handbook if so I need one thanks

I am also finding the manual issue confusing.

I have a Ducato based motor home.
Registration year is 2002 but model year must be around 2001 because of the time taken to build the body onto the chassis.

The engine is a 2.8JTD but wiring is pre-2002; I assume this because AFAIK the 2002 onwards Ducatos have an ODB2 socket in the cab.
Mine has a non-ODB2 diagnostic plug under the bonnet on the LHS (which has caused no end of entertainment with diagnostic kit).

So - it the wiring likely to be the same as the X230 (94-01) or is this also likely to be a "transition" lash up?

All I need at the moment is a diagram of the relays on the LHS of the cab under the plastic, below the fuse carrier. I need to locate the horn relay.

Cheers

You can read the codes with a 3 pin adapter cable, kkl cable and a compatible scanner like alfaobd or multiecuscan.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Pin-OBD...690?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5b0ac215ea

before you go poking for horn relay, there is an earth at the bottom of the steering column for the horn in the old ducatos that used to be the usual problem.

Please help you guys sound like u know what talk in about. I've got a ducato based motor home with a 1.9 td engine in it, does anybody know if I can up engine size to a 2.8idtd engine ?

Hi,
Another new guy in this forum. I´v tried to klick on the link below for the ducato 1999 manual but its emty... :( Can i find it anywhere else?

Thanks!

Hi all.

I have been trying for a few month to get a workshop manual for my 244Z 2.8 JTD Ducato.
Great Van, but I've got an oil leak, the heater is disconnected and the aircon doesn't work.
I am in OZZ, so aircon would be great.
So far I wore out a whole set of IT specialists to work withe this Rar, E-learn whatever files. The complexity of programs , sequences, file converters, extractors, ISO's, hardware and operating systems needed to get a manual working just couldn't be accomplished.
.Guess it is meant that way by Fiat, at least that's what the It people told me.
If anybody has this special Fiat system to crack the Data files to make it possible for non Fiat people to open the files it would be great if you could post the manual.
The files here in the download section are downloadable but can't be opened by any operating system or program available.
Thera are photos in the forum here which look like they could be out of a manual, so maybe somebody just photographed them in a Fiat shop, I don't know.
Never thought it would be impossible to get a manual for a common car, but it looks that way.

Please, if anybody got one, let us know.

Cheers,

Atmo:bang::cool::confused:

Hi. Welcome to the FF.

Both dashboard and heating system are in the manual. Click on the "Procedures" tab at the top of the page then select the category you want to see.
.
Hi,

great, how did you get these photos?
Tried with squadrons of IT specialists to work withe the manual files of this forum, but the file types and programs required are not known to man by the looks of it.
I have been trying to crack them for three month now, but it seems impossible.
Some guys said you need the source code of the programs and try to develop a program to find out how to open those files.
Fiat shops must have those decoders, so who has got one? Without one the downloads are useless.

Would be great. It's easier to get blueprints for a space shuttle the getting hold of a Ducato manual.
I f anybody in Ozz has a cracked version, please let me know, I just can't do it..

Thanx a lot,

Atmo

Oh,

by the way, my van is a 244Z with an 2,8 JTD in it.
I've got oil leak problems I hope to solve with 10/40 oil and an AC problem plus a disconnected heater.

Cheers

Hi all, I've owned a 1.9td for 8 years and have searched lots of forums looking for a workshop manual to download. Mine is a 1996 model. During my searches I have encountered many similar lost souls looking for the holy grail. I think that, if such a thing exists, one of us would have found it. We can't all be idiots. Obviously, Fiat don't give a toss about after sales service. All the Best for Christmas, Ian.

Hi, i can't really help but can perhaps give you hope :)

I am by no means a computer expert but just by using the resources of this forum previously managed to get the 244 manual on a disc and just to prove it wasn't luck followed this up with the X250 when I changed my van.

Some kind soul has posted an idiot's guide which I managed to follow:D, but unfortunately I can't remember who posted this or where on the forum it is, but it was a fiendishly complicated process involving downloading, opening & joining, and finally burning to disc. Just having the disc isn't enough (so even if you didn't live in Oz it would be no use me sending you a copy) you also need the eLearn program on the PC to be able to read the disc.

PS at the time I had Windows XP & used Nero for burning

The 244 elearn manual works fine in windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, you can unrar with 7zip or winrar. I would be sceptical of the abilities of anyone claiming to be an IT specialist that can't get it working unless one of the rar parts is missing or damaged.

The DTE manual is a different beast and won't work on anything after xp as far as I know.

Your oil leaks are unlikely to be solved with 10w40 though its probably the crank seals.

For your convenience and pleasure I've uploaded the extracted 244 Elearn iso to mega.

Thanx s a lot for your help, that link got me to a place where it tells me to download about six or seven different programs related to social networks, nothing about Fiat Ducato though.
To the oil leak, I just changed the timing belt/bearings and could not see any oil around the crank. It looks a bit like it could be coming from around the Oil dip stick. Never saw something like that on any car I owned so far....
I'll give it a try with 10/40 anyway since here in Ozz the temperatures are rather high.
I'll let you know if it works.
An old Merc mechanic advised me not to use any of those oil leak stop products and my gut feeling is to take that advise.
I'll keep you updated.

Cheers,

Atmo

Funny,

Ducatos seem to be the only car in the world where it is impossible to get a workshop manual.
Momentary I try to find a PDF version of the 2.8l JTD engine. They are used in Iveco Dailys and I know they exist in print form.
Would be good to have at least an engine manual.
Just talked to a Fiat mechanic as well and he stated too that you you cant run Fiat CD's on standard computers. That would explain why I can't do anything with the files on the forum. I must admit though that I could not comprehend what to do, how to install and where, that E-lern thing. Is that an extra CD, Computer program? does it have to be burned on CD or DVD? Does it have to be installed on the operating system? how do you link the two systems?Who is who? Does E-lern became the carrier of the data set or the other way around? Do you maybe need to cd drives and somehow find a way to run both t the same time?
I'll post the engine manual anyway as soon as I can get hold of one.

Cheers,

Atmo

Atmo, I feel your pain lol, and wish I could explain the process (it was a bit like giving birth in that the eLearn icon and program magically appeared on the PC during the downloading and unraring process)

To use modern terminology the eLearn program is like an app in that if it is clicked on without the CD inserted it just complains (in Italian!) that there is no CD; however if the CD is inserted first this will then autoplay and open a selection screen for the various manuals without the eLearn program needing to be separately initiated.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but I was hoping this thread might encourage the kind member who posted the original idiot's guide for downloading to re-link to it!

Here are the links I have put up over time as to how to download & burn the eLearn ISO "image" to CD
https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/312994-ducato-2003-2-8-jtd-manual.html
https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/299299-downloaded-manual.html
https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/241490-ducato-wiring-diagram.html?p=3157060

But better still here is a step by step guide using 2 different methods.

Downloading & Burning 244 eLearn ISO CD image

Step 1 Download the Ducato eLearn02-06 RAR file containing the ISO image. - 113 MB
Which can be downloaded as one complete RAR file from this link here - http://filefactory.com/file/5stsyqifaww9/eLearn_Manuale_Tecnico_D_officina_-_Fiat_Ducato_02-06.rar go to bottom of the page & select slow download wait till countdown then click "Start Download"
Step 2 download Winrar from the web, it is free - here are 2 places - http://winrar.en.softonic.com/download or http://filehippo.com/download_winrar_32/
Step 3 When the eLearn RAR file has finished downloading (make sure you know where it went on you system) & you have installed Winrar on your system. Winrar is not the only program that will open RAR files Winzip, 7zip & a lot of other compression programs will open RAR files as well.
Step 4 Using Winrar as the example , when you double click on the downloaded RAR file linked above in step 1 containing the eLearn CD image it will open to reveal the RAR has 1 file inside it – the eLearn ISO, on the menu at the top of the winrar program there is an “exract to” button, highlight the 1 file as in - eLearn Manuale Technico D’officina Fiat Ducato.ISO
Step 5 When selecting the “extract to Button” it will give you an option as to where to extract the file to, so select where you want to extract the file to, this will give the ISO file from which you can then burn the ISO image (567 MB) to a CD
Step 6 Once you have the elearn ISO you then need a image burning program such Nero to the burn the ISO as an image to the CD. As there are so many burning programs available I cannot not go into how to do this for all programs..
Using Nero Burning Rom version 8.3.1.6 – when in the new compilation window select CD (not DVD) then at the top of the list use CD-ROM (ISO) then click open & navigate to where you extracted the ISO image to & select it, put Ducato eLearn in the Disc name under label tab, then select burning speed etc & click “Burn”. This will, if all went well produce the eLearn CD which you can then use to install the program on your system.
Step 7 When you have the completed CD image burn, you can remove it from the drive then reinsert it in the CD drive & if autorun is enabled on your system it should start to install itself automatically & add the eLearn icon to your desktop, NB: the CD must be in the CD drive whilst using the program for the installation files on you system to access the Databases on the CD, so when using the program first put the CD in the drive.
There are also other methods of running the program such as mounting the ISO as a virtual drive using such programs as Daemon Tools etc.

Although it is not obvious the eLearn program uses Internet Explorer as its interface & will not work with any other browser. From my experience the latest version of I.E. I have on Windows 7 is I.E.11 & it operates with no problems on that, (& previous versions back to IE6) & windows XP, should work on Vista as well, on saying that I will try it on Windows 8.1 also with I.E. 11 & see what happens.

To make it slightly easier for those who aren’t computer literate I have devised an alternative method of making the eLearn CD using Winzip as follows.
Downloading & Burning 244 eLearn CD using Winzip

Make a Directory on your system & call it whatever, maybe Ducato (Note: not eLearn as that is created when installing the program) then download the zip file (163MB) from here –
http://filefactory.com/file/rc3khd8xb43/244Ducato_eLearn.zip
go to bottom of the page & select slow download wait till countdown then click "Start Download"

Once you have downloaded the zip file open the 244Ducato_elearn.zip & extract the contents of the zip file to your newly created directory.
In your directory you will see a Directory- “folder” called 244Ducato_eLearn.
From one of my previous posts - the contents of which should look like this –
the folder contents should be as below with 5 folders (in red) plus 5 files in the root directory of the CD (the contents of the above eLearn ISO should look the same)

Database
image
pdf
svg
system

autorun.inf
elearn.ico
ex_setup.exe
setup.exe
start.exe
Now all you need to do is burn the contents as in the 5 folders & 5 files above in the “244Ducato_eLearn “ folder to a CD. This will create an eLearn CD which can then be installed on your system & again as stated above the CD has to be in the CD drive when using the program.
As above if autorun is configured on your system once the files have been burnt to the CD & it has completed open the CD drive then close it again & it should start the install automatically. Also once it is installed on your system just putting the eLearn CD in the drive usually automatically starts the program without clicking on the desktop icon.
Not “quite” as complicated as the ISO.

Atmo - the eLearn program is basically the same as any Windows software program, once you have the elearn CD it installs just like any other program & accesses the info from the database on the CD which is why it needs to be in the drive when using the program but only runs on/needs internet Explorer.
The complicated part is in the version on the forum the ISO has been split into 5 parts to make it easier to download. When you have all 5 RAR parts downloaded & use winrar to extract it out it looks for the “other” 4 parts of the RAR file & extracts it out using the 5 parts into the eLearn ISO which is then burnt to CD. The first link at the top of the post is the same eLearn RAR as the on forum but is one big RAR file instead of being split into 5 parts as in the forum version.
An ISO file is an image of a CD which when burnt to a CD produces a copy of the original CD & is used to enable exact copies of CD/DVDs to be transferred over the internet.
I have just tried the older DTE version on I.E. 8 on XP & it still seems to work OK but did have problems with the wiring diagrams so maybe the SVG viewer needs to be installed ? Might just post this as a separate thread & in the Guides section so it is easier to find.
Hope that is clear enough to follow & helps – any problems just ask
Cheers

Wow,

thanks a lot for your time and patience.
So using Windoof 7 on Bootcamp most likely won't do the trick.....
I'll keep trying. End of February we are going to Europe for two month and I know a Windoof specialist there. He's got a whole shop of components and access to a lot of software.
Hopefully we will be able to design and assemble a computer system which fulfills the Fiat demands.
I really love our Ducato, but still, the effort just to be abel to read a Workshop manual is absolut incredibel....
I've put already about 50 working hours into it and now it looks like there is to be a few weeks work with the specialists and a few hundred Dollars for hardware as well....
Somehow I still refuse to believe that it is impossible to have a standard PDF book to work with.
But I guess there are peple which tried that
The nice thing with Mac is you can do screenshots, so it would be easy to copy.
Guess the manual has at least 400 pages, so to fotograph them all or convert them into a PDF is a lot of work.
By the way, if somebody is lucly enaugh to have a manual, is it a big job with the main crank seals?

Have a great Christmas holidays guys,

Atmo:bang::confused::)

Hi Atmo
I didn't realise you were running a Mac system, no wonder you had so much trouble. Basically if you can get the either the ISO or the extracted win zip files burnt to a CD & are running a Windows computer you should have no trouble running the eLearn program.
There is a way apparently to run Internet Explorer on the Mac using "WineBottler". see here -

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/run-internet-explorer-mac-might-want/

So I don't know if you want to give that a try.

Quote from the System requirements to run eLearn
"To use the eLEARN application, it is necessary to have a PC with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 Browser or higher version."

Well now I don't know if what I said about it only running on I.E. is correct, previously on inserting the eLearn CD unless I had I.E. set as my default browser it would not start up saying incorrect browser or something until I set I.E. as the default (I normally run Firefox) Now Firefox has done a few updates in the last week the eLearn CD is still in the Cd Drive & I double click on the eLearn Icon & up comes the X250 eLearn program no trouble & Firefox is still set as the default browser??? Also just tried the X244 eLearn (the test CD one I burnt using the Winzip method) & it also works OK.
So not sure what has happened !!
Cheers

RE: Cranks seals
Below are some instructions for replacing the crank seals from the 244 eLearn
1. Fit the locking tool
2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the clutch (2b).
1. Undo the flywheel fixing bolts.
2. Remove the tool.
1. Remove the protective cover.
2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the crankcase rear cover (2b) with the oil seal incorporated

Refitting
Fit the protective cover.
- Fit the crankcase rear cover with the oil seal incorporated and tighten the fixing bolts to the recommended torque
1. Fit the tool for preventing crankshaft rotation.
. Fit the flywheel (2a), apply thread-locking agent to the bolts (2b) and tighten them to the recommended torque using the angular tightening tool (2c).
1. Fit the clutch (1a) using the tool (1b)
2. - Tighten the fixing bolts to the recommended torque.

The front seal involves removing & refitting the timing belt so I will just put 1 picture to show what the seal looks like.
Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the crankcase front cover (1b) with the oil seal incorporated (bottom right Pic)
Hope that gives you an idea of what's involved
Cheers

Hi. wow,

thanks a lot for that. It's a lot easier then I thought it would be by the looks of it. Just removing the gearbox is a major thread though..

i couldn't figure how to start a new thread, so I just post it here.
my 2002 244Z 2.8JTD came with only one key. Taking the elecrtronic board out of the case and tack it under the barrel did not work.
So I took the ring antenna off and placed the board in the middle with two haves of a wine cork. Some tape around finished the job. No I can copy the key and will not have the lost code problem.
