Hi all

i am being asked for the vehicle weight to order a front wheel bearing... i cannot find any reference or anything on any paperwork or the van for this ... any ideas where too look? its a long wheel base luton van.
cheers
Mike

Hi Mike,

Isn't this displayed on a rivetted plate on your front vallance under the bonnet? On my motorhome it shows the max.weight which should not be exceeded for each axle. Hope this might help.

Mike.

on the vin plate?
Tania had a quick look on there but nothing matched any of the KG options i was offered for the bearing...
options were:
1000kg
1400kg
1800kg

she only found like a max gross weight when she glanced i think.. which was 3000 something i think...
will have another look when the van comes home...
:)

ok tania just text me a photo of the vin plate
the only numbers are:
3200kg
4800kg
then it says 1 1650kg
2 1750kg

which doesnt reference to anything i have been asked for.. :-/

reet..
1 says 1650
2 says 1750

so assuming that as you say 1650 is the front axle... the options of 1000kg 1400kg and 1800kg that have been offered for the bearing bear no relevance...
?
ang on dealers ringing me back...

reet i made a cheeky call to the dealer ( they know we dont order from them...too expensive for an old van) but the parts bloke has always been helpful ( we drop em a packet of biscuits in or something as its a mobile shop.. :) )
he reckons its 1400.
as in you get a ducato 10 ( the small van)
Ducato 14 (ours)
and the Ducato 18..
which makes sense...
??

The 10, 14, 18 is the capacity measured in quintals so 1000kg, 1400kg, 1800kg. Later models are q11, q15, q18 etc.

With a gvw of 3200kg you're is the middle model.

The 10 and 14 bearings are probably the same, the 18 is different.

There were changes in 2004 so if your van is after that make sure you get the right one.

thanks matey...
makes me more confident now...
its an old 1995 model..
:)

A good team effort there and it now sounds as though you've found the info. you need. All you've got to do now is get your hands oily ! (y) Cheers

bearing changed and up and running thanks all..
although the hub was worn, so we'll see ow much life is in it... :)

HELP.

I have the very same problem selecting bearings though my front-axle and rear axle weights are slightly different to the ones in the last few posts.

My front axle is 1750.
Rear axle is 2000.

Any idea which Ducato mines is, 14 or 18 ?

Hi, the 18 is referred to as the Maxi model so check the handbook.

Also I think the 14 has 15" wheels and the 18 has 16" (though not 100% sure about this)

I have a 15q chassis, weight quoted as 1750kg front so i need the 1800kg bearings, are they the same dimension ans the 1400kg?
I ordered the 1800kg ones and they told me they will fit, so heres hoping
