Hello everyone.

I have a 2002 Ducato 2.8 JTD. The battery went flat over xmas and once charged up the code light came on.

I have read everything on this forum but to no avail.

We have tried:
Flashing the Battery terminals Pos and Neg.
Rewiring the plugs on the high pressure pump. We can not find any 3 pin connectors on the pump just two "2 pin" plugs. The pump in the tank is working and we have fuel being pumped from the filter.

The top plug read ( orange/red wire and Brown and white wire ) 24ohms
Bottom plug read (pink wire and black wire ) 2.6 ohms.

We can hear the solenoid working in the pump. i.e top plug

Has anyone had and problems like this before and solved it.

Many thanks

Will

Have you actually read and cleared the codes I'm confused?
If so what code numbers did you get.

I'm confused too, how do you flash a battery. Where I come from, flashers get arrested. Please don't tell us you also jump your battery.
On a serious note, the pump solenoid operated by the KCU has only 2 wires on some vehicles, an ign feed, and the switching wire from the KCU. The earth is internal. You can remove the top section of this (with difficulty), and find there is a standard fuel shutoff solenoid in the end of the pump. Connect your ign wire to this solenoid, discard the electronic pcb. On some vehicles I have had to drill the torx head screws out as they had been "got at" before. If you need to do this, just use machine screws with slot head to reattach the solenoid.
The kcu is quite sophisticated, more than just saying "key is ok, turn on pump solenoid". Briefly, the KCU recognises the key, tells the solenoid unit key is ok, the solenoid unit replies to say it agrees, this is confirmed from both units, so there are mutiple messages back and forward before start up.
