The fiat forum bus is broke :(

it had water in fuel filter light on but still ran, i drained it out but then it wouldn't start, think air got in an self bleeding system isn't working.

the wires on the bottom of the drain plug have snapped off but i am told this wont stop it starting?

how do i bleed from injector pipes. tried loosing them one at a time turn over no bubbles just fuel, do back up then same for next one and so on. that didn't work.

today tried undoing them all turning it over for a while, then do them all back up and then tried to start, that didn't work was only me and a baby here today, he no help he was asleep

do i have to loosen them all then do them all back up while some one else turns it over?

the ducato cd gives me this

Capture.JPG

but if i click B10 - ENGINE DOES NOT START IN ANY CONDITIONS i get "No data available for this validity"

Attached is a diagram from the iveco manual for bleeding the fuel system on the 2.8 non CDR engines with explanation included but the location of some of the components would be different on the Fiat. I would remove the fuel filter again & fill it nearly to the top as practical without spillage on reinstallation with clean diesel then reinstall it. Then follow the steps as per the attached diagram locating the bleed point on the lift pump & manual operating lever & priming pump etc then when all air is removed from the low pressure side. Then try bleeding the injector lines as stated in the diagram & as you have already tried. Not exactly sure what the i in TDi indicates maybe it has an electric fuel pump like the CDR models & not a mechanical lift pump if so maybe I would follow the some of the techniques of bleeding the JTD -
"Make sure there is no background noise - kneel next to the drivers
door so you can hear the fuel pump working in the tank & turn the
ignition to "mar" ( do not attempt to start the engine ) for 10-15
secs then off - now you should hear the pump self bleeding the air
from the fuel low pressure side
Do this 2 to 3 times until you no longer hear the "farting" air
bubbles noise & there is a constant noise from the pump meaning no
air in the system "
This is after you refill the filter etc as above.

Then do the procedure above with loosening the injector pipes etc.
Does anybody know what is the difference between the TD & TDi engine is ??

hope this helps!

if all the wires broke off the bottom of filter drain plug, would it prevent it starting?

Hi Dave
I would think not as the two wires are for the water sensor on the bottom of the filter. Our 2.8 JTD was brought new with a recall less than a month later to recify the missing wiring harness (or not connected plugs?) for the water sensor & the obviously non working water in fuel warning light on the dash. Made no difference to the running of ours so I would assume it would make no difference to your model either.
