I have purchased a motorhome about 12 months ago based on a 2008 Fiat Ducato 2.3 diesel engine - it has 32,000 miles on the clock and maybe due for a service - the onboard EOBD light has just come on and id like to understand more - so my questions are - where is the device that monitors this located in a Ducato van - does this need a software upgrade ever as i would doubt if this has ever been done - what would the Fiat warranty cover does anyione know if this is 3 years - is there a way of checking what this means ones-self by checking an error code or something - i would be very greatful if anyone on here knows any answers especially where the device is located in the new Ducato van - cheers in advance - Floggs100

In all vehicles eobd vehicles the connector must be easily accessible from the drivers seat with no tools required. There is a cover under the steering wheel flip out and you'll see the connector. Fiatecuscan has comprehensive cover for a lot of the fiat range the 2.3 should be a bosch 15c7 ecu I think. You can use fiatecuscan with a cheap 'vag-com' cable from ebay.

Many thanks for your help - sorry for the slow reply but been away with work - i got into the diagnostics and it has come up with error code PO481 Cooling Fan 2 circuit malfunction so it is a genuine fault - just need to find out now how expensive and how much work to get done - not sure yet how much this costs so if anyone has an idea let me know

regards

This may be some help

My secondary cooling fan is seized solid .. didn't bother fixing it not a problem with our weather! I'd imagine Arkk might need his secondary fan in Aus though! Doh New Zealand can never tell the difference with those tiny flags :p
