Hi.
Further to my starting problems thread in Ducato, my van would start well only if I touched a jumplead across battery +ve and glow plugs.

I took out the battery, and found a large and a small fuse in holders, and thought I would try to clean up connections first.
When I put the fuses back in, the battery re-connected, I now find the glow plug starting light does not come on, the key code light stays on, and the van will not fire at all.
I have disconnected the battery in the past with no problems on reconnection.
The big problem is that I don't have any of the special keys, only a black one.

Can anyone advise me on the implications ,is this likely to be a 'key' issue, what the master key does, and what I can do in this situation.

Any advice will be greatfully received.

Paul

Hi.
It is a y 2000, 2.8d maxi.
Is this bypass a case of wiring straight to the diesel pump? Would it need a switch in line?

Thanks.
Paul

Hi.
Problem sorted.
I have been trawling through this forum, and one post, almost the last I looked at, suggested that there may be a cut out button behind the battery, and there was.One little click, and the van started:D:D:D (after the usual heating of the plugs with a jumplead, the reason I got myself in this pickle anyway).
As I don't have the master key, I may just disconnect the immobiliser anyway.
Is this just a case of finding it and unplugging it??

Get yourself another key, should only cost you about £30.
If you loose the only one you have, you will have to go for byepass method or send the immo box to me or another autolocksmith.

Spare key is a wise £30 spent.

Hi.
Everything is rosy this morning.
Obviously all the poking about and cleaning I have done has cleared the original fault of the glow plugs not heating.
The van started straight away even covered in snow.

I will take wise advice and get a key cut
