The upper passenger mirror is cracked and I want to replace it.
There are a couple of on-line suppliers (about £10). Are these likely to be ok?
Should I get one with the "backing"? If so how do I remove the old glass? (just pull it off?)

The only thing to consider is, is your mirror glass heated? If it is, I doubt that these cheap ones are. If you don't want a replacement heated glass then they are probably worth a punt. Best to buy with a returns policy though.

I put one on my van 2 weeks ago. Bought it on ebay about £12ish.
Mine was heated so I just carfully pulled the patch off the original and stuck it onto the new one. easy peasy.
