Hi Guys,

I have a 2.8 i d TD and the clutch is on the way out. It is the 8140.43 engine on a W (2000) plate which was imported from Germany in 2007.

I have had a good read of the other threads but to no avail. The Fiat "Helpline" will only say "Contact a dealer".

The motor factor says there are two different clutches based on which type of gearbox it is.

I have the VIN but am unable to use ePER.

Before I start pulling my hair out:bang: or have to contact my ignorant local dealer:mad:, do you know which clutch it is, or where I can locate the gearbox number?

Thanks in advance

eper only works properly in internet exploder try again or post or pm your vin and i'll check

Cheers Corkman,

The VIN is ZFA23000005845707, LHD but doubt that makes a difference.

Are you a City supporter? I have a good mate who lives out in Ballincollig, we try and get over every year to top up on Guinness:D

Checked eper your engine is M8 basically the same as the older td except for the head.

Your clutch kit is is fiat part number no: 71719218
(old numbers for cross reference are: 71712932 or 71734934)

This is a 235mm diameter clutch.

The sachs clutch kit is: 3000 951 307

The other clutch kit they're talking about is for the 2800jtd after 06/2001 according to eper. This model has hydraulic clutch and the clutch is 242mm diameter.

Not into football at all so much so that I often get a shock when everyone cheers :p I love the drink though :yum:

Valeo kit on ebay.de for 160 notes, sachs kit is about 279 I get most of my parts from germany because ireland is such a rip off you might get the same price locally in the uk though.

I did a quick search of google heres a uk company with the sach kit cheap! Don't know anything about this company ...

Hi Corkman & FreeSpirit,

Just a quick update for you. I managed to find the kit in a local motorfactor for £199.00 which considering it was off the shelf and a good make, I didn't think was too bad.

A friends mate who works on trucks fitted it for £240, and also fixed a stuck caliper at the same time. The local clutch place wanted £525.00, and a dealership £720.00

All in all a job well done, so thank you both very much for your help and assistance, it is very much appreciated (y)

Best Regards
