Hi All

1st post so hope I'm in the right place.

Heater beneath drivers seat on my 2007 Ducato based motorhome (Ace Airstream) is not working for some reason. Please can anyone help?

The button to turn on the heater on the dash illuminates when pressed, but nothing. Think the fan runs automatically from a fixed thermostat, so am assuming that an electrically operated valve should open to connect the matrix to the engine cooling system and once up to temperature the fan will kick in. (Seems like a sensible mode of operation but I have no idea)

Assistance much appreciated.

I am not sure why you believe the fan to be thermostatically operated. On my MH the under seat heater fan operates as soon as the switch is pressed no matter what temperature the engine coolant is. I have just tried it and with the engine completely cold the fan runs as soon as the switch is pressed.
In addition I believe that when the heater button is pressed it opens the solenoid in the engine coolant pipework to allow water to flow through the heater.

It appears to me that you have an electrical problem in that even thhough the button is illuminating that there is no power to the fan or solenoid.

Van is actually a C-class Chausson Welcome 85 but I think this is probably a base van issue.

My problem is that the drivers under seat heater is always ON ... OK in winter over here but unbearable in Italy in summer!

My understanding is that this should work by diverting heated coolant from the engine to a heat exchanger under the drivers seat which is then vented into the cab via an auxiliary fan and should only come on if I switch the auxiliary fan on on the aircon console. However, this doesnt seem to be the case. I note from rayc's post that there is a solenoid but I cannot find any reference to it in the x244 eLearn CD.

Im assuming I'm the only Ducato driver with a permanently warm bum!
Any suggestions as to what may be wrong or solutions gratefully received.
