PROBLEMS WITH A 2008 RAPIDO 987F MOTORHOME ON FIAT DUCATTO
AND GRATEFUL FOR ANY ADVICE GIVEN AS STUCK IN SPAIN AND CANNOT GET INTO A RAPIDO DEALERS UNTIL SECOND WEEK SEPTEMBER (on holiday)
The problems started 20 odd days after my last service and the warranty ran out. And really don’t want to relay motorhome back to UK as we are supposed to be on a 6 month tour meeting friends/relations for weddings etc

1. Electric window not working
2. On dash board
3. Speedometer not working
4. Fuel gauge not working empty warning light flashing
5. Engine temperature gauge not working
6. Rev counter not working
7. Multi function digital display not working though clock flashes all the time and the total mileage shows in display but does not advance when driving
8. Seat belt warning light on
9. Handbrake warning light on
10. Airbag warning light on
11. ABS warning light on
12. ASR warning light on
13. Vehicle lights work but no indication on dashboard
14. Direction indicators working but no indication on dashboard
15. Loud clicking noise coming from relay by drivers seat
16. Loud clicking noise coming from relays under bed and the 12v system for running the refrigerator not working

Above kept coming on and off when above was off all of above was working except for the Airbag warning light which stayed on.

FIRST FIAT GARAGE IN FRANCE
Changed 12 fuses and informed me that they were corroded (did not look corroded to me) and that if it all went again may have to change the fuse box as that may be corroded or look at the body computer.

All seemed to be ok and everything working correctly

Driving into Spain all of above started again except for the electric window which worked and the 12v refrigerator was working with no clicking noise coming from the relays but relays were very hot.

SECOND FIAT GARAGE IN SPAIN
They changed all the fuse boxes and the dashboard with working units but the problem did not go away (so still as first problem above plus the electric window again not working nor the 12v system for the refrigerator not working though no clicking noise from relays) – they replaced all the old units and told me that it would seem to be a RAPIDO fault with the body computer.

Have spoken to Rapido in France and I am informed that during the building process they take a feed from the ecu? For the control panel to recognize when the engine is running for the fridge and the charger? And that they don’t fit any form of computer under the dashboard. Not a lot of help but told to take it to nearest Rapido dealer.

Assuming the battery is in fine fettle, all power connections to & from the battery are good, and the charging system has no issues, I'd check all the earth / grounding points, wherever they are... whilst searching for them look for any signs of water ingress in the fuse-box, around the wheelarches, multi-plugs in the engine bay and the bottom of the windscreen.
