Hi all,

I have a 2003 Burstner motorhome on a 2.8JTD and I find that 5th gear is too high with a max MAM of 5 tonne. I would like to reduce it a bit but cannot find out if there is a suitable gear arrangement to suit my needs.

There is a gearbox specialist near me who have done this, they said. The figures of the new speed versus RPM seemed too big a drop. The man I spoke to said I would be doing 55 to 60 mph at 2700 revs. This may give me better fuel figures than at present but I feel there may be a better ratio than the one he offered me.

Any help would be appreciated. By the way, I do not want to rechip the engine as I think that is not addressing the basic problem.

Thanks.

Hi Did. You ever resolve this? I've noticed in the parts list that there is talk of a new gear ratio: The E139 not is the new ratio
