I've got a 2004 fiat ducato 2.8 jtd motorhome, with a slight problem.
I think I've spotted a similar problem in the forum, it's the wiring to no.4 (gearbox side ?) injector. Red 'fuel injection problem' light comes on, van goes into limp home mode, breakdown man comes and squeezes / tugs the wire and all ok.
But I need a more permanent fix.
Been to Walton Summit trucks and they said £700 for a new complete wiring loom. That can't be right surely.
There's got to be a better / much cheaper way.
Anyone know the fix for this, part nos, etc.

thanks

A Bosch Diesel Injection specialist did a proper repair on mine at 98,000 miles.

Now covered 154,800 miles and have not had a problem with it since.

Cost, £170-00 to repair.

Shaun Arkinstall Injection Specialist in Yate, near Bristol did ours, before you ask, but would imagine any injection specialist would have the skill to do this.

Apologies for the late feedback.

I took the van to Taylors Garage at Clifton nr Preston. They do servicing and repairs for Hymer UK.

Garage man said we've done a few of these, extensions to the injectors wires that is.
I had all four done, peace of mind, for £120 incl vat, that was 3000 mls ago.
Driven to Spain and back since.

And last week the same garage charged £170 for a cam belt change.

regards

Allen

Very reasonable!

I have an 05 2.8jtd. The engine light comes on while driving, If I stop and try to start it wont start for a few tries but then starts OK with no red light, but I dont get any misfiring while the light is on, can it still be the injector wiring?

Would you have a part number?

The seals were replaced on my van and all was well for a few hundred miles, then it started again. It only comes on after climbing a hill under load. Sewells in Leeds have now replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the common rail fuel pressure sensor, so I will have to see if it is now sorted.

What was the outcome after having the work done? I have a 2005 2.8 jtd motorhome and am having this problem with the light coming on, it does'nt seem to affect the engine performance, it was first noticed when climbing a steep hill, it comes on at about 2300 rpm, if I let the revs build up slowly when not under load the light comes on at about 2800 rpm. Would like to get this sorted, dont fancy breaking down climbing the pyrenees, any help would be much appreciated

I took it to Powerline Services in Shipley. They diagnosed 2 injectors leaking back, they changed them but on testing the fault was still there. They took the injector pump out and could see that the garage I first used had put some kind of sealant on the third piston shut off valve. So I had the pump replaced and all is well.

I would whole heartedly recommend Powerline Services of Shipley, they are professionals and know how to diagnose diesel problems.

It cost me dear but Barclaycard refunded me the the money I had spent with the first garage who I am considering taking to the small claims court to recover the money I spent on putting their work right. As it is my opinion that they damaged my van.

I am taking the van to be looked at by a mechanic on monday, hope he can find the problem, another unusual problem started today, this also happened about twelve month ago, whilst driving along the fuel gauge started behaving like a mickey mouse watch, the tank is just over quarter full but the needle on the gauge swung round to full and beyond, it bounced about a bit then slowly settled back to its original position, could these problems be connected somehow?. By the way the van has only done 28.000 miles, not yet run in!
