Whilst my Ducato van was up on the ramps the other day, me and my mechanic noticed we had quite an oil leak from one of the turbo pipes (air pipes, not oil supply).

At the moment, I'm getting none of the tell-tale signs of turbo failure, like oil smoke etc. Just really an annoying leak which is obviously travelling from the turbo towards the intercooling and just weeping out on one of the jubilee clipped joints.

Really guys, all I'm asking is, How long, do you reckon I've got before the inevitable happens?

Further to this thread, I can confirm that as of last Tuesday 25 May 2010, my Turbo failed.

I'm going to check back to the mileage when i originally posted to get an idea of how many miles I have covered since the oil started seeping at the boost pipes.
 
I think it's a good forum.
It's one of the few left where if people can't say anything good they don't say anything.
So there are times when no one knows the answer, so there are no replies, which looks bad.
But at least if you do get a reply you know it'll be a helpful one.
I've had some good help, thanks to all, and I've hopefully helped a few people as well.

Bummer, sorry to hear that. I would have thought that without shaft play it would have been the oil from the ccv.

I can categorically state that on 24/09/2009, my van hit 151,000 miles.

So since noticing the oil seepage on the air pipes, the Turbo covered 12,800 miles.

And it worked and sounded ok right up until the death, when i gently pulled away from a set of traffic lights, hit 1500 rpm in 1st gear and POOF.:eek:
