Hi, it's my first post on here & I'm already on the scrounge for information :) I'm going to replace the gearbox oil in my 2006 2.8JTD based motorhome. I believe that there is no filler/level plug & that the oil is normally put in through the reversing light switch hole. Well, I've got a problem in that Hymer did'nt consider access to the reversing light switch when building thier vans :( However I can see & get to the speedo sensor at the rear of the GB.

Can I get the oil into the gearbox from the speedo sensor hole ? & if so does the sensor simply come out once its securing bolt's been removed. I've got a phobia about removing parts I know nothing about

2nd question, what's the concensus on how much oil to put back in ? I've read anywhere between 2.5 & 2.7 litres.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Regards Dave.

:) Hi, if you search under MYTHING I have replied regarding this before and the post will explain about the oil how much and how you get to the reversing light switch.

If you can not find the post, pm me and I will resend.

My gearbox is now quiet so I would go with 2.7L.

Regards

MYTHING
