The auto park and intermittent wipe have died.
Wipe and fast [well, slightly faster] wipe OK, but have to park manually - nuisance!
Is it likely to be mechanical or electrical? or both?
Havn't found any replacement motors on web :(
Any ideas please?

Hi Ponyrug
I know it was a few years ago (I'm fairly new on here) but I had exactly the same fault on my 1991 Fiat Ducato. How did you get on?

The fix will take you all of 10 minutes.
Pull off the electrical connection block to the wiper motor, remove the nut that connects the motor to the wiper arm bar, and then unbolt motor from under bonnet.
Take out the screws that hold the cowl over the actual motor winding, and withdraw the core/winding from its cowl.

Clean all the muck/grease from the narrow crevice that runs across the side of the armature. (That crevice is what gives the park position signal, and when it's all gummed up, the wiper motor doesn't sense it)
Re-assemble and re-install.

Buy me 5 beers.

hello I have a 1998 ducato based motor home the wipers have been getting slower and finally stopped I removed the motor and sprayed the linkages with WD40 replaced the motor and they sort of work, however despite marking the position of the wiper blades on the windscreen they no longer park properly. How does the linkage connect to the motor? should it be at nine o clock? could the position be the problem? thankyou

The pivots are most likely seized, remove the the c clips retaining the shafts and press them out burnish the shaft and pivot and regrease with a good quality waterproof grease.Reassemble.

Next remove the electronic control from the back of the motor to reveal the electrical wipers inspect and clean the contacts on the wipers and tracks and redistribute or renew the grease as necessary. Reassemble.

Regrease each ball and socket joint.

If youve disconnected the linkage from the motor before then disconnect again and trigger the wiper once so that motor returns to park itself. Reconnect the linkage to the motor shaft with the motor arm at approx 8 o clock (whenvan looking from the front and installed in the van ) Now you're ready to reattach the wiper arms in their park position.
