Hello all,

I have a Fiat Ducato 2.8 Turbo Diesel (motorhome).
I need to get a cam belt kit, but the supplier has asked if it is a:
-> 2800cc (90kw/122hp) engine or
-> 2798cc (94kw/128hp) engine.

I don't know!
The engine number is: 3800914
First registered (in New Zealand) in Feb 2004, so it could have been made up to 6 months earlier.
Purchase documents just say 2800cc but I don't trust them for this level of detail.

Is it possible to distinguish the exact engine type from the engine number?
If not, how do I know which engine I have by looking at it?

I plan to get the cam belt kit sent from UK to NZ because they are very expensive here, so I need to get it right!

Also any suggestions for a good place to get full cam belt kit?

Cheers.
Geoff.

Can you find an engine code on the VIN plate, just under the bonnet?

Mine for example says, motore versione 8140.43S, which refers to a 127bhp 2.8JTD engine on my 2003 Ducato 244 series.

If you can find a code like this, we're on our way to helping a bit more!!!

let us know Geoff

What was the price for the kit in NZ as you might find it in Australia cheaper, Gates has the belt listed Part No. T1555 & is $62 from the local Autobarn. Also you should check the local Iveco dealer as the Earlier Turbo Dailys had the same engine & their parts are cheaper than the fiat ones, Just did a comparision at the local Iveco/Fiat dealer in Brisbane & the same Iveco parts are 25%-35% cheaper. Gates does a kit PN K015334XS (which is a UK/Europe part number system & is different out here) but it is not available in Aust. Dayco also does a kit & I priced it from an Ebay store located in NSW - $341au posted which was the Belt , 2 pulleys & the 2 oil seals. If you want to know more PM me. I am pretty sure it would be the 2798cc (94kw/128hp) engine - 8140.43S
Also if you enter your Vin number in the online Eper it will give you the details of your Vehicle. Just tried & it looks like its down again!! or if you want to send it to me I will use my Eper to look it up.
Cheers
