in Hell with a Ducato
Well I spent last night reading 19 pages of Ducato posts and could not find one on my current problem. I have a Ducato 15 2.8 2004 model. I noticed a while back that the drivers side rear wheel was sitting low in the wheel arch. I managed to get a look under this weekend and found the leaf spring sitting on the bump stop. Looking closer i found the spring had cracked in 2 places where it is clamped to the rear axle. I rang my local Fiat dealer today to ask the price of a new leaf spring and relevant bushes. How much do you think a single strip of metal that has been heat treated, slightly trimmed and curled at the ends is going to cost? £278+vat and £28+ vat for the bush. That is truely OUTRAGEOUS and that does not include labour to fit. I don't blame the dealer as they are just an agent for Fiat. I blame Fiat for huge profiteering from their customers. Has anyone else had this problem on their Ducato? The van is 4yrs and 3 months old, has approx 47000 motorway miles and is only kitted out for a hobby that does not require a tremendous amount of weight to be carried in the back. No doubt if one has gone then the other is probably on the way out, but for £600 plus labour I need a sensible, affordable alternative supplier.

As there are no other posts about this, it can't be a common fault and you seem to have been very unlucky with your van.

I would therefore be inclined to try to source a set (as you said, springs should be replaced in pairs) from a commercial salvage firm (find-a-part.com, or similar) and get a local garage to fit if you can't diy. Should be considerably cheaper.

do the sell the bushes seperate because my local dealer doesn't.
what is the name of the dealer and phone number please?????????

If you could price me bushes it would be most appreciated.
Thanks
