| Re: help I have a 1.9td, 1997, I don't know the 2.5 engine that well, but it sounds like the servo vacuum pump. On mine, it's on the RHS on the engine, (nearside) and runs off the end of the crank shaft. It's round, with a pipe in and a pipe out. The top is prone to working loose, then spraying oil out, as mine did. It needed the bolts fastening down to fix it. From memory it's only three or four allen bolts.

| Re: help Hi Pete the painter, I have the same motor in mine, will take a look tomoz in tha daylight. I do have a problem with my van and the brakes, apart from the 'feel' being pretty heavy, sometimes the pedal goes 'solid' and the brakes have no servo power. This only happens in slow traffic, mainly when i'm coasting and apply the brakes twice, the second time theres hardly any braking force at all. This is perhaps what happened to your van. I think the vacuum in the servo drops to nothing in this case. I have tried 'pumping' the pedal a few times, as we used to do in old cars to push the air out, but that just makes it worse. I haven't checked it out, and wouldn't notice a leak, as it leaks a little diesel from a badly fitting pipe. Back tomoz, Doorman.

| Re: help Hi Petethe painter, I had a look under the bonnet, the pipe from the brake servo goes to a pump which is mounted just above the oil filter. The pipe has been worn where it is fixed into a holding clip. The small round pump also appears to be leaking oil a little. You can see it best if you get under the front bumper. Doorman

| Re: help i have had a better look at the problem. just above the derv pump there is another unit, this provides a vacume to opperate the brake servo pump.as fast as i poor oil into the engine it comes flooding out from what i can only make out is the unit above the pump. i spoke to a fitter and he said that it is a rod that is enclosed and has a seal to keep it in place, this may have gone awol! can not get a hand book in any car stores so i can pin point the parts that i have to order.have been messed around by fitters in getting it sorted and had to beg use of another van as so i can carry on working.the engine is good so to are brakes.by what i was told "this shaft has popped it's seal" my guess is what shaft? what seal? unable to order these up without knowing what there called, frustrating because it happened just before xmas
