Heater Matrix Problem?

Hi Guys,

Another problem.

Similar to this thread:

(fiatforum.com/uno/145194-no-heat-inside-uno)

I am basically getting no hot air through the vents.

I have followed the advice in the above thread and confirm that:

1) both pipes going to/from the engine bay get hot (very)
2) the heater valve cable works - i.e. it turns the switch on top of the heater valve.
3) there is another pipe coming out of the top of the valve and this is also hot, as is the valve itself.

Am I right in thinking that if both pipes are hot that the valve and matrix are working ok? If so is it likely the "air disribution flap" alluded to in the other thread that may be the problem? If so, where is this flap and how do I get to it?

Cheers guys!

mooro

Re: Heater Matrix Problem?

both pipes can get hot through convection so its likely either flap (as you say) or more likely heater matrix ( common problem) which is dash out job...its not that bad to do.

Cheers for that.

I have been advised to flush the heater matrix first - any idea how I do that?

Re: Heater Matrix Problem?

There will be a drain plug on bottom of radiator, let coolant drain then refill. There will be one or two bleed screws to let the air out while refilling, let engine get up to temp & top up if required (obviously following safety issues here from howwater etc)
