Hi, I have a RHD 2002 Ducato and the electric windows and central locking is not working, any suggestions. I tried all connections in the drivers door and they are fine, the electric mirrors are still working ??? No fuses appear blown either.

Regards

Rod

Welcome Rod,

remember there are two fuseboxes (one either side of dash) also check A pillar to door connections, earth connection point under fusebox on n/s.Failing that the control unit is in centre of dash.

Fuse F47 occasionally goes on our one and disables windows and locking. It's in the drivers side fusebox and the owners manual doesn't make it clear that this circuit affects locking and windows.

I think it is caused by leaning your arm on the locking peg on the top of the door card/armrest. i think that it repeatedly fires the locking solonoids until the fuse fails.

I have a Ducato 244 Maxi van.
I had the cab valeted a while ago, and on my return to pick it up, it was like brand new.
Alas, soon the fuses for the brakes and the webasto heater began to blow, or the instruments all failed.
So I took the van van to a garage (I was hundreds of miles from home), and the guy there took a look.
He told me that the whole fuse boxes on both sides where covered in a thick layer of some kind to gunk.
I remember that this odd yellow gunk was found in tiny pools in the odd areas under the seats in the pockets in the door, and at the time guessed it was from the valeting people.
He removed the fuses and washed them in a degreaser, then sprayed a cleaner all over the fuse holding modules. (Battery was disconnected).
On the refit and restart of the ignition, everything was working...hurray.
Then he showed me via a torch, under the dash area...the gunk had run down the air intakes and gaps from the window screen and on its way down evaporated. He said to expect more trouble when the weather warmed up, as there are electrics under the dash near the top.
He suggested I leave the van a day with him but I was loaded up and a delivery was timed for a few hours later, so I paid and thanked him, and went on my way.

That warning now seems to have come true.
The indicator rely and the Window /Locking Module are playing up.
It is a similar effect as a loose connection, they work and then dont, random and sometime for a while or a few days. I checked all the fuses, connections but it did not help.
The right indicator rear stopped working, and to get it working was either run the hazard lights switch and leave on for a while, and then trying again, to find it works or the odd bang with a fist on the center of the upper dash. The windows and central locking are the same, work in hot weather but not in cold and to fix it is the same, a few bangs on the dash. I guess the gunk has got on the relays, thus causing a bad earth or simple oxidizing the metal.

Here is my problem. How do I get at the indicator and where is it plugged in, and the module, so that I can remove / clean / or renew? I removed the radio and the upper plate where the folding note holder is, only to find a metal plate/strut. The power cable loom could be mover a little but they vanished towards the front and out of sight and as always in a space where my paws cant reach. Wobbling the loom made the indicators work and not work. What do I need to remove to gain proper accesses?
I am sure the relay and module are dirty and the connections have been effected by the gunk, because before this cleaning stuff was sprayed all inside the cab, I never had this problem.
Any Advice would be appreciated, with a little detail on how to go about it.
Thanks in advance.

PS: Please save my sanity, this has had an adverse effect on my scalp where I have torn tufts out during a Indicator torment failure induced tantrum. Teddy has stopped talking to me.

Sounds like ectoplasm, time to call an exorcist or maybe ghost busters.

Seriously though i don't understand how the valet company could have sprayed the fuseboxes they are covered.

Windows and central locking module is behind the dash by the glove box, there is also a controller circuit behind the hazard switch. I'd start by removeing and cleaning the contact on those. I had all sorts of phantom issues with indicators and fogs solved by cleaning and reseating connectors on the module behind the hazard/fog etc. switches.

Thanks for that one. I guessed they sprayed the whole of the cab, and quite a bit. A lot had seeped via joins and cracks. I will go and give that a try. How do I get at it? Pull the hazard out?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I will report back if that worked. Maybe even do a few photos. For the use of other "Haunted" Ducato owners... My ducato is LHD but guess it is laid out in mittor order.

Hi, I went and drove into town, and while on the way...poked the hazard switch on and off quite hard...the door central locking and the windows started straight away, So I will give the whole of the area a good clean. Thanks for that tip...I will strip out the radio and remove the doc holder. What does the modal look like?

driver side window hit and miss but central locking playing up if i hold the switch in on the sliding door it locks front but still not side or back:worship:
