Ducato fan heater in cab has stopped blowing out air.

At first, speed 3 stopped working, now they all don't work. Heater okay though.

I presume it needs a new resistor(?).

Any advice appreciated, such as the resistor's location and how to get to it, etc.

Thanks a lot.

Hi
your right it probably is the resistor which is located on the heater assemby near where the Fan motor sticks out from the assembly it is closest to the door pillar just behind the bottom of the dash will probably have to remove the lower dash to get to it .On mine which is RH Drive the actual resistor assembly is brown (secured with 2 x screws ) in contrast to the black of the rest of the heater
Cheers

Still unable to locate and identify the fan heater resistor.

Removed lower portion of dashboard and located the fan heater assembly behind glove compartment. Brown box on top attached with two screw-in bolts turns out to be for the electric windows and central locking.

Much appreciated if someone can help me out a little here. I need to know where the resistor is located, how to get to it, and what it looks like.

Thanks

Attached is a pic of the Heater/AC assembly in my 2003 model.
The resisitor is located behind & to the right of the green tag attached to the wiring harness as I said it is brown as in the pic & is recessed into the assembly with 2 x screws, the other connection at the bottom of the heater/ AC assembly secured with the single nut is the thermostatic control for the AC system.
If you click on the pic it will open in a separate window for a better view - should not be that hard to find unless yours has a different Heater/AC assembly

Cheers

Thanks for going to the trouble of getting a picture, FreeSpirit and trying to help me find this thing.

The whole assembly behind my glovebox is completely different to yours - my van is LHD. Bought from Germany, but possibly manufactured in Slovakia (2003).

I think my Fiat dealer has ordered a resistor like yours. It looks like the line drawing he showed me, kind of oval in shape - but there's certainly nothing like that attached to my heater assembly.

I notice there's a pipe going through your floor. I don't have that either. Isn't that an air conditioning unit?

Thanks again for your time.

Update: Checked all fuses. Replaced F55 in B002 under fascia unit which was blown - still nothing. Fan heater resistor located and a new one fitted (Part No. 46723713) but fan still doesn't come on :bang:

No idea - I don't have a multimeter and to be honest I'm not entirely sure what to do with it if I had.

I'll take the motor out and have a fiddle around, failing that I'll try and see what's going on behind the speed control knob.

When the fan was on its way out, I used to hit the dash and it would come on, so it maybe it's a loose connection or something.

I'll invest in a multimeter tomorrow. Thanks.

No, it doesn't work on any setting. Not sure if there's power going to the motor or not (as I don't have a meter).

I just dropped the motor out of the fan assembly and there was a leaf in there, maybe that was the initial cause of failure(?).

BTW, I've got a Factory manual, so I'm not working blind. Just about to dismantle the centre of the dash to get behind the control knobs now.

check the earth aswell which from memory is located underneath one of the fuseboxes (near side) as this can be loose.A test light or multimeter or even a 12v blb with 2 wires soldered to it would be of help if you have one.

Earth is bolted tight.

I do have a 12v bulb and I do have a soldering iron and some solder... I'll rummage around for some wire. So, yeah, I could try that. Cheers.

Okay, I have now soldered two bits of wire (each about 4" in length) to a 12v bulb.

What do you mean "put across battery"?

well connect bulb across battery so you know it works then go to the 2 pin connector that plugs into the heater motor...put the bulb across the 2 terminals (stick wires in terminals) with ignition/fan switch on speed 3 or 4 ....if it lights up you need motor.
