Hi,
I have a 1989 Fiat Ducato camper, its running a 2.5 turbo diesel engine. I am keen to find out some more about the engine, like if it was taken or used in any other vehicles or manufactures? I was told an Iveco dialy??

Also as the camper is quite large and heavy the engine has a distinct lack of power on hills etc. Im wondering if any one has had any experience of slight tuning to these engines? I was thinking of fitting an intercooler as at present the turbo runs direct to the inlet manifold, or different air filters or even a slight adjustment to the turbo, I believe to be a KKK.

If any one has any information on this engine or tips they can give me, then please let me know.

Many thanks

Ian

the engine you have sounds like a SOFIM used by fiat, citroen, peugot ect,it seems to be there equivilent to our Perkins engines, ive been told you can fit an intercooler from a later unit, you would have to aquire the radiator with combined intercooler plus pipes ect,the increase in power may not be as much as you think, pos 8%dependant on ambiant temp. The camper i have has the same unit as yours and pulls well, the first time i brought it home i found the nearside front wheel hot,and had to free off the front pads,a common fault with campers left standing, hope this has been some help
