Help haynes dont seen to do a manual for the doblo but I have been told that it is the same engine as in the punto , if so i can use that manual.
Head gasket blew at 40,000 and cost me £500 to get fixed, ive changed head gaskets before on other vehicles but would like the help of a manual so can anyone tell me if the punto manual will do.
Thanks.:worship:

If you are sure it's exactly the same engine then I don't see why not. There will be different things attached to it but the basics of the engine should remain the same.

How come it's blown again?

We used to have a 02 doblo 1.2... it blew once, we were suprised and dissappointed for a 4yr old car. A couple of months passed, it went on a 500mile journey to cornwall and blew again, costing the rather annoyed insurance man a £1500 transportation fee to get it home. we got it fix and got shut of it...

IMO 1.2 8v just isn't strong enuff for such a big car...

got a citreon berlingo instead cos we found one that was a rite bargin :D plus the extra 10bhp makes a suprising difference... infact fiat replaced there 1.2s with 1.4s IIRC cos of these problems...

Dont know how it blew again, allways check oil water etc and dont blast up motorways ( well cant really with a 1200 can i ). decided not to do it myself and taken it to another garage reccomended through trade.
It is the same engine as the punto according to mechanic.
It is a small engine for a big car but its never seemed to strain with all the familly in it going away with lugage, allthough it was the diesel i was looking for but couldnt find one at the time except for a white one but but didnt want people thinking i was driving a taxi!
Think its time to look for a diesel replacement.

PS.
Looked at the berlingo and derivitives but think Doblo is a bigger and better vehicle with more room for the bikes to go in and on, somebody sugested fitting an oil cooler might help with blowing problem, any ideas on this?
Supose i could allways change gasket allong with oil plugs and filters LOL:D
Just a thought but if these engines allways blow gaskets shouldnt Fiat have done a recall!

yeh i think they should have done. i know of several cases where head gaskets have been blowing on them and i think its irresposible of fiat not to do anything about it tbh. although having said that it would cos fiat an absolute fortune :S

the citroen berlingo and peugeot partner are identical with 2,800 ltrs of boot space. the renault kangoo is much smaller. the doblo has 3,000 ltrs of boot space, but tbh we didnt notice any difference until we read the figures :)

Both the early petrol & diesel Doblo's were underpowered & strangely suffered head gasket trouble my advice for the 1.2 petrol in short is get rid.

True best thing is to change it but how can I get rid of a vehicle that has a face that smiles at me when I look at it:D :D

The only face a Doblo has is the one only a mother could love.
If the head gasket keeps going you could buy a new Doblo, it would work out cheaper in the end.

The old Dobbie is alive and kicking again and at a fraction of what last garage charged, think ill keep it going for another 25,000 then change it.
And at £170 its just like having a major service done so not so bad.
Bought an oil filter from halfords and it is the correct one according to their list but it dont fit mine and they wont take it back as ive lost reciept so if anybody wants an oil filter that doesnt fit a Doble ive got one
