Hi

I've just bought a Doblo Cargo 1.9 SX Diesel 2002.

I have no Owners Manual & no workshop manual (although I've order the later on disc from ebay (fingers crossed))

There are a few things that my new van does or does not do, that i'm not sure if it's correct or not, please advise.

A. should the central locking unlock all 5 doors ?
B. My diesal tank cap does'nt seem to be lockable, should it be held shut by a solenoid ?
c. on the dash mileage counter i have a little pic of a light and a 0 beside it, any ideas ?
D. I put a new CD radio in, but it does'nt hold the settings, so i have to re-tune the station every time I turn the engine off. ?
E. can I get a diagnostic reader for the van, there seems to be a plug in point at the internal fuse board.
F. I have a fault, that is draining the battery overnight, I'm currently trying to find out what is causing it by a process of ellimination & a multi meter, but if anyone else had experianced such a problem, please tell what caused your trouble, as you never know it may be a common defect.
G. If anyone has a wiring diagram they could share with me, it would be a massive help. if on file you could email it to [email protected].

Thanks for your help, when I've cured all my problems and know more about the van, I hope to return some favours.

A dont know
C will be headlight height
D do a search ;)
F most possibly the new radio

I dont own a doblo but these are things i know because im clever :D

Hi,

My central locking unlocks all 5 doors, but mine is not a cargo so maybe it is different. Also, my Diesel cap is also lockable. The 0 is indeed a headlight height indicator, can be changed by using the two buttons to the left of the instrument panel. Your Radio is wired up wrong. That is why it is draining the battery and resetting with the ignition. Swap the ignition and power wires around, that's what I had to do.

thanks guys.

I swapped the ignition & the permanant supply wires around to the radio & not only has it stopped draining the battary, but the radio holds it's settings.

woohoo :D

my central locking only opens 3 doors, the two cab doors & the drivers side sliding door. Not really a problem, but i'm just currious if there this is by design or by fault. (5 door van)

my fuel cap still is not lockable, does the flap lock or is it the actual cap that locks & how would you normally unlock the cap/flap, is it part of the central locking system ?

I've got my disc off ebay, it's ok for some things & i suspose for less than a fiver it's worth having, but nowhere near as good as a good old haynes manual.

Hi All, its been a while - I just MOT'd mine, and the guy couldn't get the fuel cap to lock so he threw in a new third party one. They're really fiddly - you have to hold the lid still, then turn the key in the lid, then turn the cap. Fitting is the reverse. If a mechanic can't work it out... So I accepted the new fuel cap with good grace.

Other faults for this thread: Was overcharging, but the guy said try a new battery before a new regulator/alternator - he was right - so if you find yours is boiling the battery, its worth checking the battery(£60) before the alternator(£300).

And finally, a jingling sound from the front wheel may indicate that the hub cap/bearing cover has come off and is rattling round inside the alloy. d'oh!

How about a Doblo section in the FAQ's? Could place some of these issues there perhaps.

Ok guys, things are swinging into action. We now have our own Guides section! So I'll be making guides on the EGR Valve etc. etc.

Any ideas please let me know so I can get cracking whilst I have the time ;)

For the question of the radio coming on quiet and getting louder - I may be stating the obvious but in the radio manual that came with my 06 family, increasing the volume was a special setting that you chose in one of the menus? Presumably you can turn it off and just have constant?

Rear door Problems

Had a problem opening my rear doors, on unlocking them doors wouldn't open but could be opened with internal door handle, a problem for me when I have a rear bulkhead and no way to get in the back

Found the problem was a the cylinder that moves across to engage the door catch when you turn the key, found that the grease that had been used on this had become stiff and the cylinder became stuck

The easiest way to remedy this was to remove the inside door handle just remove three hexagonal screws and it comes off completely. then spray the locking mechanism with lubricating oil

Hope this is of help to someone as it caused me quite a few problems

IT WORKS(y)
Like others I have had a problem with the rear screen getting all the water and sh**e off the road, on my dobby,
Ripping the rear wiper blade to shreds in the rain with all the crud:(
So with a little ( note little) bit of thinking decided that an airfoil to alter the turbulance over the rear screen might be in order:idea:.
So looking around for a wing type thingy spotted a palm rest from my computer keyboard:),
Into the workshop pete, Found a peice of plastic to make the suport with, about 40mmx20mmx15mm, cut and shaped it to have a bit of bling-wow factor,
using sticky foam tabs these were attatched to the wing:cool:
And with a coat of black spray paint on, was looking very technical and expensive:yum:,
Well this bit of sh**e , sorry kit was installed on the rear, above the rear stop light on the roof, bearing in mind that it had to clear the door when opened(y)again using sticky foam tabs, Sorted:D
Over the last few weeks, 1000 miles, in the rain and spray off the motorway rural roads I have found that the window stays much clearer without the crud,
Suprisingly it has not come off,
So my problem may be solved on a permenant basis,
One advantage is the extra downforce keeping the rear end glued to the road:eek:, Got to keep an eye on tyre wear now, lest I soon will have slicks:eek:
Will find a way of getting some photo's on here somehow?,
Try it it does work:)

Hi Rich
No, use sticky tabs, double sided and just line it up to the front edge of the tailgate making sure it don't foul the roof, when you open tailgate,
A further design is in the process of construction, made from makrolon plastic, and will be twice this length, and see through:yum:
regards
pete

I really want to buy one, coz' there is a lot of thieves here. You know there only one way to keep this. So plz help me. Actually I've got a friend in Italy, just not sure whether he know about it or not.
