I noticed lately that if I reverse up my friends hill where he lives I get a little black smoke from the exhaust. So I spoke to a friend who's a mechanic and he said it's nothing to worry about but to try some of this RedEx Diesel Treatment to see if it made any difference. It's supposed to help MPG and such too, but I've not been able to verify this yet however after three quarters of a tank gone I've noticed quite a big improvement in the smoothness and responsivness of the engine, especially when starting off when the engine is cold, no smoke either when reversing up the hill!
So not sure if this is a temporary solution, but my friend said this should last you a long time and he uses it on his diesel vans regularly!
