Hi all, my first post and apologies as it's a problem post, but I seem to have a bit of an odd one!
I have a 2006 fiat multijet doblo approx 90 000 miles. Bought approx 18 months ago. And about 12 months ago, it had a few issues accelerating at speed, warning light would come on, etc. Garage replaced some filters and part of the exhaust, seemed to resolve the issue. Then about 6 months ago, it had problems starting, turn over for 3-6 seconds before firing up especially from cold, but not always. Glow plug failure msg would occasionally appear alongside max temp and occasionally abs failure. Had glow plug relay replaced, filters changed and a fuel return valve replaced, still probes starting, so had a diagnostic test done, had starter and battery replaced, started fine, but on drive home from garage after a blast down a dual carriageway, slowed in traffic and idling became very lumpy, thought it was going to stall, but didn't, as soon as throttle pressed the lumpiness stopped, foot off throttle and it returned so much so the exhaust started rattling against chassis!
Got home let it cool started up again and idled fine. Retuned radio, 5 mins later gave the throttle a blast, foot off throttle lumpy idling again! Started again next day, fired straight up but glowplug failure msg came on again! Booked into garage again and problem has disappeared!! Think I'm going mad!
I cam just about get my head around petrol engines, but this is my first fiat and first diesel I. engine and it's all a bit of a mystery to Me! Thanks for reading, apologies for my rubbish description but any ideas about what's happening would be greatly recieved.

Sounds like you have one or more bad wiring connections, especially the earth around the engine loom. There is no mystery to it, just have a good look about and don't be afraid to open and look closely at all connection blocks. Any greenish surfaces show water ingress and likely bad connection. Can be cleaned up with a toothbrush etc. I would especially remove and make shiny each contact surface for the braided strap from the engine to the chassis, no idea where it is on your car but will be there.

Many thanks Andydiver. Will check it out when I get my car back on tuesday. A couple of people I spoke to thought it might be dodgy injectors, but no error codes for injectors on diagnostics so hopefully an electrical connection fault will be cheaper to fix!
