Hi peeps.

Doblo 1.9 Mjet. 2006. 80,000miles.

Engine pulls poorly from a standing start (frightening at junctions!)
Seems to lag, then wind itself up and then off like the clappers leaving a black trail on the road and a cloud of black smoke.
I try to keep the revs up in town so it doesn't bog down which isn't good for MPG.
When on A roads and motorways pulls no bother.

Ideas please? EGR, Poor turbo actuation, other??

Thanks,
Ed.

Egr could be stuck open or slightly open causes symptoms your car has.
How handy are you with the spanners?

Or mass air flow sensor.
An easy check is to unplug its connector and if it drives better maf sensor faulty.

Ok with spanners! have had it stripped before.
Wasn't too sure if it would be EGR as it only does it from a stand still.
Expected it to be through the revs.

Ta.
Will give that a try tomorrow as I have some sensor cleaner.
Might take The MAP sensor off too just to give it a quick spray over.

Thanks,
ED.

Just unplug and drive first.
Then try cleaner if you fancy and drive again.

If egr partly stuck open , at lower rpms any boost air from turbo goes straight out of exhaust ie inlet doesn't pressurise.
Higher rpms turbo moves more air and can pressurise inlet even though some air going straight into exhaust.
The maf sensor is seeing all the air flow , the ecu is fueling for all that air even though some isn't getting to cylinders.... Black smoke more fuel than air to burn it.

Thanks for the info'.

If it is MAP then E Bay best bet?
Seen some silly prices.

Thanks again.
Ed.

Carparts4less? Check for discount code to use.
There is another supplier that gives discount to fiat forum members who have donated, name slips my mind at moment.
Someone else please post name.

Shop4parts that's it ,the one that gives FF member discount

Sorry for late replies.
MAF ok/Cleaned and replaced MAP/EGR cleaned, checked and reinstalled. Restrictor plate fitted to EGR.
Exhaust a lot cleaner and runs nicely, but, still a bit of dawdling from a standstill until about 2000rpm when power kicks in.
Possibly stiff/stuck turbo blades?
Thanks
Ed.

Check for leaks in all inlet pipes and intercooler.
Is it now safe to drive around town?

Mine was doing this, its back to normal a couple days after fixing a leak where the pressure sensor attaches to the dpf filter. I had basically no turbo, and wouldnt rev past 3000. Pull away from a roundabout or hill start was scary!
