I've read every thread but can't find the problem I'm experiencing.
My 2003 Doblo 1.9 JTD always turns over strongly on the starter, but half the time it won't actually start.
There are no fault codes showing up and it runs very well once going, no obvious problems despite it's huge mileage. The weird thing is you can always push start it.
Various checks have been carried out by several mechanics and we think for some reason the injectors don't always start pulsing when the car is being started normally with the starter but strangely this problem doesn't ever occur when push starting.
Might this indicate some sort of problem with the ignition barrel?
If anyone has had a similar problem your advice would be much appreciated, because the car is amazingly handy for my work.
Zummerzetman.

Just a thought here but have you checked to see if air is getting into the fuel feed pipes? Might be a case of a bit of corrosion in the pipe or tank connection areas.
Options to be able to check is see if you can get a bit of clear pipe into the line between the fuel filter and the fuel pressure pump. If air bubbles present that may give you a clue. Another option would be to feed the fuel from a container, again positioned/inserted between the filter and pump.
I had a similar problem with a 1.9JTD and what was happening on mine I was not getting any electric feed to the priming pump in the fuel tank. Eventually a simple fix on mine, I swapped some relays around and it sorted mine. Must have been just a poor connection. Anyhow, fuel feed tests help me prove my fault area.

Thanks Retro Pedro, We got a good flow of fuel but haven't got a clear pipe handy so I may as well try switching relays to see if that helps, can you remember where they are located? Are they in the fuse box under the dash?
Cheers, Zummerzetman.

I have tried the clear pipe and there were no air bubbles present. The lift pump is working fine so I don't think this is the problem area. It must be something to do with whatever circuit starts the injectors working. Going to leave it with an auto electrician this week to see what they come up with. Still don't get why bumping works but starter doesn't. I'll update if I have success.
