Thanks again. I've got all the measurements but am really struggling to get what I need. The standard for a 12 mm bolt/threaded rod is 1.75 and the one I need is 1.25 :( so I need 12 x 1.25 x 100 with 30mm thread on each end. I will not give up though. I've got 12 mm bolts but they are standard thread, I have access to tap/die set but not sure if you can make that change. I have contacted a few places asking for help just waiting on responses.

Could you not buy a 12mm Bar and have a company thread it for you ?

Any local machining firm should be able to do this for you. Might be worth having a couple done as spares, shouldn't cost that much extra.

I'm in the process of asking around. Thanks again for all the help.

Just a thought, I have access to tap and die set could I get it done using that? Would that work?

hi , it SHOULD work,
however you want a decent quality bolt - so it will take a bit of threadcutting..

it's probably better if somebody with a lathe actually FORMS the thread,

where are you based..??

I can't thank you enough for all the assistance you are giving me, I have contacted all of these now as well as a couple of others. The ones I had already contacted have already replied saying they can't assist :(

Hi Smiter, please do not contemplate using just any bolt As Varesecrazy says use a decent bolt. Car manufacturers generally use quality components which are quality tested, high tensile steel very often being used. Ordinary dies will not touch this steel. The finer thread is used as well as for other reason,as there is more surface area on the thread making it less likely to pull out.
Have you tried going round to your local garages as they may have something near to what you want?

Just want to thank everyone for their wonderful help and support during my crisis with the car. I now have the replacement part in place, the engine back where it should be and am happy to report that there appears to be no other damage to the car. My 13 year old Doblo lives to run another day. Thanks again everyone.

I have only just seen this thread so a bit late really. But if it helps anyone else,

Even a good machine shop will not be able to remove the stud. It is put in when the bracket is cast. When mine broke we tried every which way to remove it but no joy. I went to a local breakers yard and got the bracket for £10.
They usually snap if the nut was tightened to the wrong torque. That nut has to be undone if the gearbox is removed for any reason, change clutch ect. If it is then tightened wrongly the stud will eventually snap.
