Hi all,

Just bought a 2011 Doblo Cargo. Little thing that is bugging me is the radio doesn't turn on and off with the ignition as you might expect. Is there a way to change this? It's the stock unit. I've had a flick through the audio manual and also through the menus and can't see anything.

I guess I could get used to it easy enough, but thought I'd ask in case I was missing something obvious.

Thanks in advance.

my 2010 pandas radio does not turn off with the ignition so i have to turn it off myself but i belive this is normal for FIAT like electric window delay so you can shut the windows a few seconds after turning off the ignition and follow you home lights that leave the headlights on until you get to your front door and a few other things to so i would look for info on the forums

If you read the manual, you will find that there is an option on the radio to disable the 30 minute switch-off delay.
Saying that, the funcgtion wasn't available on my radio! So much for the manual.

I got so browned off with it, I went aftermarket - so I now have DAB and mp3 and flashing lights!

I suggest you either get used to switching it off manually, or leaving it on - it will switch itself off after 30 minutes.
The delay is a) because there is no Accessory position on the ignition switch and b) the stop/start will switch off the radio when you're sat at traffic lights :)

From memory, if you go aftermarket, the wires at the back are ISO, so it's a quick swap, but you'll need an adaptor for the aerial.
I wired a switch in to mine so I could listen with the ignition off if the need arose - but then I have to switch the unit off manually!!

Thanks, I've had a look at manual (as my first post says) and in my manual it mentions nothing of a setting. I've had a good fiddle with the radio too and can't find any setting.

I don't have start/stop so can't see why they couldn't build it in. Anyway, manual it is, but to me it's a massive design oversight.

I'm betting the previous owner fitted an aftermarket head unit and swapped the ignition and battery wires around as most aftermarket are the other way round to fiat. I suspect that they then swapped the units over again before selling, but forgot to change the wiring back.

Brilliant, thanks for this - I'll have to buy some radio keys and drop the unit out to have a look. Can you remind me what colours I should be checking? Red and yellow?

Okay, I've just popped the unit out and this is what sits behind.

So I'm guessing due to thickness the red/green is the power and the black is the ground. The red and black cable which has been spliced in goes to the grey connector which is hidden behind the dash - not sure what that is about.

But anyhow, I don't think I've got the wires to have an 'ignition live', just seems to me to be a permanent live and a ground that is provided?

Appreciate the help.

Okay, so that grey cable is just tapped in to the live & ground and after a Google I think it's to do with some sort of tablet/accessory that was installed in a previous life. I'll probably remove it to make it neater behind there since I don't need it.

Bit more information, just been out with a multimeter. The red/green is a permanent feed, the blue cable seems to become live with the ignition.

The blue cable goes to a port labelled +15, the red/green goes to a port labelled BU (or something like that, sorry, I forget) - do I just need to switch these cables around?

Okay, swapped the blue and red/green around and my radio now works with the ignition. Thanks all who have contributed for your help. Can only assume an after market unit was fitted and the wires were swapped, then the original refitted for resale but with the wires in their inverted state.

Okay so the radio now turns off with the ignition, but it always turns on at the radio even if it was turned off on cd function. I'm guessing it's losing its memory - guess this is the price I pay? Any ideas?
