Can someone please recommend a good source for an oil and filter for my JTD Doblo please (2004 / 54) I am happy to use Halfords as have a trade card.

and a rough guide to "this is the sump plug" and "this is the oil filter location"

Hoping to do this one myself.

PS: If it matters the van is running VERY well, but is on 192,000 miles so not sure if this affects the optimum choice of oil grade.

Hi,
probably the same as my Marea, and the Stilo's,
so nice and simple.

filter is on front of block..nice and easy,
cast alloy sump, with a flat sump plug - still on a HEX "allen" Key

ok - as long as it's not been butchered.

( my original "FFSH" Marea's plug had to be removed with an angle grinder):cry:

For those of us with the later MulitJet oil burners, Fiat have triumphed in the poor design stakes.

Yes, the sump plug has holes in it, so there is no need to remove it completely - it uses a Dowty-type seal rather than a copper washer too.
But, even though you have to remove the undertray, it still drains onto the side of the tray that is left.

The filter is not one for the impatient.
32mm Hex - you can get a socket on it, but you can't get a ratchet or bar on as there is little clearance. The side splash panel in the wheelarch has to be removed so you can then see the filter. As it's plastic, you very gently get an open-end spanner on it from the wheel arch and hope that it doesn't round off. Mine was king tight, so I got my mate with a strap wrench on the body to help the spanner action.

No 10 minute oil/filter changes on these engines.

There is not enough movement in the inlet air trunking to remove the top of the air filter, so you then have to break the single-use clips that hold it on, or apply brute force and hope the plastic is good.

The Pollen filter is a flat panel. It slides in to the heater downstream of the blower. Unfortunately, the access and the filter receptacle is neither flat nor straight, so it is bent in situ.

Bloody Fiats!

Thankfully I have a nice reliable 192k JTD :worship:

Thanks for tips on where filter is. Should be obvious then. Which is the best oil? Putting reg in to eurocarparts suggests using the same 505.01 5w 40 I put in my Skoda Fabia TDI - Would like to know thats the case before wasting any of my stock of quantum platinum.

Low SAPS C2 grade oil for the Multijets with DPF and horrendously long service intervals.

Get a second opinion from Opie Oils for your viscosity.
ECP are having repeated 20-30% off days recently, so time it right!

Mike

Edit - just had another flyer from ECP, 20% off their QX oil and a "free" filter
