Hi All,

I'm thinking of trading up my 2010 1.3 Mjet for a newer shape 1.6 2013 model, is there any thing I should be looking out for here ? My reasons for upgrading are the repair bills are starting to ramp up on my current car and I'm hoping the newer model with less miles (30k on it) will be a little more forgiving on my wallet.

I'm also considering the Partner Tepee as I've had a few niggles with the Fiat which has led me concerned over the build quality :(

Cheers

DT

I upgraded to the (263 model) 1.6 Multijet 9 months ago, no regrets yet. Obviously the later model being Euro 5 is DPF equipped, so as long as you get in a good run rather than just around town, there should be no issues. Fuel economy is OK, but surprisingly a great improvement. The ride, handling & noise levels are all improved on the earlier Doblo.
Two drawback (in my opinion) keep a pair of gloves in the car in Winter, the bloody heater takes ages to get any real heat out! This is apparently an issue with many modern diesels, although I believe that some high spec model may have a PCT heater which improves things. The other niggle is the chances are you won't have a spare wheel or carrier,,, gel kit & compressor instead, Fiat cutting costs, saving weight? Who knows?
Oh, & start stop system is pointless, I turn off on almost every trip.

What cobby58 said.

I get around 44mpg but don't do short runs.
Short runs WILL trigger regeneration of the DPF
Stop/Start - when it works - seems pointless.

Gearchange is fair, but getting into 1st gear can be difficult (could just be mine though).
Comfortable enough, though a bit noisy. Cruise all day in 6th at the legal limit, otherwise 6th is a waste of time.
Goes round corners OK, but noisy tyres (mine are van ones due to weight).

Had a Partner before and both have plus and minus points. Partner lower geared and feels much more sprightly. Better on diesel, harder on tyres (very easy to spin the front wheels). Needed new clutch & DMF at lowish mileage.

My daily journeys are about 23 miles each way, comprising 5 miles City & Country each way at off peak times with the rest fast A road, I'm getting around 48 mpg, my older Doblo 1.9 jtd 105 bhp (non DPF) was managing 53 mpg. I may well be driving the 263 a little faster because it is so much quieter? But I certainly was expecting an improvement with a smaller engine, six speed box & maybe more slippery aerodynamics?
On the positive side I am no longer looking in the rear view mirror with concern how much smoke I am laying down, so in all fairness I'm happier with my new choice. Mine has the Goodyear Cargo tyres which do seem noisy, no plans to replace yet but yes I would be looking at a quieter replacement reinforced tyre.

Any hi mileage owner with rear suspension woes ? yet

Yes front and rear suspension woes have had rear dampers replaced rear shocks replaced one twice front bump stops and springs all before car was 3 1/2. Current problems are steering fluid leak and wish bone and drop link on passenger side. I would not recommend this car at all and it will be the last fiat I ever buy

Firest gear is a nightmare.

Like Alison I had loads of suspension problems initially. Car has now settled down and is good. 6 speed gearbox is the best I have ever used and dont have first gear problem. Seven seaters and vans get the nasty standard van tyres that are noisy and suffer from bad understeer. I changed mine in the first month for Toyo Cf1 van tyres and the problem was cured. My next car will be another Doblo. The Tepee isn't tall enogh inside in 7 seater format for me and the Ford doesnt allow heavy loads with the seats folded flat. Despite its niggles I do like the Dobby. I also get 44 to 45 mpg at best and I only do long runs.

I have a 2014 1.6 105bhp Doblo maxi and am only getting average of 39.7mpg, sometimes less. I've just last week had the egr turned off and had a remap to 140 bhp, which is meant to increase mpg but not seen it yet. It pulls and accelerates loads better. There were no faults on the ecu when checked but thought I would have got more mpg. Otherwise very happy with van.

Hi A Mc N that is what I am hearing most of the old faults with some new ones thrown in :bang:

I will not be getting another one, yea supension is awfull in fact I don't think there is any!!!
seats are a joke and cabin noise is unbearable I have had 7 fiat vans over the last 30 years and these are the worst, travelled 140,000 miles in this thing if it wasn't for brexit it would be well gone. Do yourself a favour and get anthing else (skateboard maybe nice and comfy compared to Doblo).
